Wheeze, redux

Well, it's apparently a bit worse than I hoped, but about as bad as I feared. My peak flow meter reading showed me at 70% of my top lung capacity. Which means that my normal breathing (as opposed to the deep breaths I use on the meter) is probably only at about 50%. So yeah, I guess that's why I'm feeling like crap.

The coughing is getting worse, too. I was up most of the night coughing (that hollow echo-y sort that makes your whole chest hurt) and about 1:00 a.m. I moved into the guest bedroom where I hacked in privacy. Even the cat didn't come sleep with me.

But I have a fancy new inhaler to use for 2 weeks to see if it helps to clear things up. Isn't that just the coolest looking thing? Love it. I hope it works fast. I could use a good night's sleep.

I'm trying to decide if I have the energy to walk down to the health center to get my prescription filled...or if I'm going to be a complete wimp and ask the student employee to go take the Rx forms down for me and then pick up the meds on the way home. How sad am I?

That is what my brother uses. If I remember what my mother was saying, it's the first one that has worked really well for him.

Cool. That's very good to hear.

I feel for the coughing. I woke myself up quite frequently coughing last night too, even though I took some of my nice codeine-laced cough medicine I was perscribed the last time I was sick.

I'd have the student take it, that's why they are there! One of the things I liked about working at KU was having a student to do my bidding.

Yeah, I think I might go with the student option. Ooooorrrr, I could just take it down there and wait the 20 minutes for them to fill it. That usually doesn't count as time off work for me. Hmmmm!

I wish I had cool looking inhaler like that when I was a kid.

Yeah, kids these days. They get all the cool drugs.

Don't feel too bad=its a fact that MOST people don't breath as deep as they should, and ESPECIALLY women... thats the problem with everyone-not enough oxygen!!!Hope your new inhaler does the trick!

Ugh, that's like not breathing at all.

Best,
Chris
