Today's Tumblr collection: Tuesday, November 13, due South, part two. It's heavily skewed to RayK, but there's some RayV love (although no RayV shipping) in there, too. There's also a nice, if short, discussion of homoerotic subtext versus queerbaiting. And some fic recs.

Interesting! All of it!

And I reblogged your fic recs for future reference. Cause I don't already have enough porn to read! ;P

Yay!

Next Tuesday is a giant slashy collection of Sherlock/John. With fic recs. So read fast! You've got a week before I barrage you with more.

Oh Benton....

[identity profile] carmy-w.livejournal.com 2012-11-13 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY!

I've already found one Sherlock/John that I will be hard pressed to take off my number one position. If it's not on your list already next week, I'll be surprised.

COMPLETELY off topic: Do you read Diane Duane's LJ, and have you seen her entry today, or do you want some vintage linens?

Oh, which is it? I wouldn't want to forget or miss one.

Except, oops, I just counted and I already have fifteen, which is the limit I set for myself on the recs. So I hope I don't disappoint!

Oh, Ray!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-11-13 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are lovely, but no, I don't need any. Thank you for thinking of me, though!

[identity profile] carmy-w.livejournal.com 2012-11-13 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll have to look it up when I get home; it's more than a bit too porny to search for here at work!

[identity profile] carmy-w.livejournal.com 2012-11-13 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, hahahahaha!!

Ok; I'll look it up when I get home, either way, and you can add it to your next list, if it's not on the first one!

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2012-11-15 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I've thought about making one list of my faves so far. But I know I'd later realize I forgot some important ones and that my list might be ridiculously long.

Plus, I've realized that "well-written" and "omg I read this over and over" is not the same thing. It's more of an overlapping Venn diagram.....there are fics out there that I loved and are well-done but that I've felt no need to reread.

Ahahah if you went by sheer number of rereads it would be: Chapters 3 and 8 of A Cure for Boredom, a BDSM AU by etothepii, Evidence of Human Life, Cooperative Principle, and.....The Blog of Eugenia Watson. So a bunch of stories with tons of graphic sex, and then a piece of total fluff with no sex in it at all.

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2012-11-15 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I'm curious too!

Good lord, A Cure For Boredom.

*fans self*

It was, amusingly enough, A Cure For Boredom.

DAT FIC.

Yes.

INORITE

The first time I read it I kept taking breaks because I didn't want it to end!!

And she stopped writing the Sherlock's POV version right before my favorite scene in chapter 3 where Cam is giving John head and Sherlock pins John's hands down. I've seen several fan artists do that scene, I know I'm not the only one who loves it.

But she promised to get back to writing the Sherlock POV stories after she was done with her OT3 fic, and that's over, and I know she's posted that she's writing something!

And I try not to be pushy with authors 'cause it's rude, but I think about the Sherlock POV of that scene and this comes to mind:

I think the best thing ever is to have ACFB open in one tab and the re-write from Sherlock's POV in another and pop back and forth. Hnnnnng.

YES YES YES

Ahahaha people recognizing Emma at Sherlock Seattle. Was awesome. "OMFG YOU WROTE A CURE FOR BOREDOM! *verbal keyboard smash*"

PERFECT GIF.

The Making Of story was well-written, but that pairing(s) just leaves me cold. I don't buy it. So it pleases me that she does intend to resume the Sherlock POV for Cure for Boredom.

Did she say what it feels like to be the equivalent of a NYT bestseller in the fanfic world?

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2012-11-16 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a threesome I normally would buy, either, and I admit it's way out of character for my headcanon of Lestrade. But I'll go along with damn near any pairing/threesome if the writer does a good job. (Dood. I read a Molly/Moriarty fic once where they were siblings and Molly was actually the more fucked-in-the-head psychopath of the two, and it was amazing.)

Plus there were some damn hot scenes in The Making Of, all around. I've been thinking of rereading it.

I LOVE THAT STORY and I can't remember the name of it. Do you? Help Help! I want to download it.

No! I should ask her some time. I only saw it happen twice and the second time was right before I left, and it was the woman giving me and a couple of other girls a ride back to Portland. It was hilarious! Emma seemed to take it in stride. And while looking through the tagged posts for Sherlock Seattle on Saturday I did see a post by someone who was like, "OMFG I just met Emma Grant and I haven't read her fic because it's too much" and I couldn't help but show my phone to Emma and she laughed.

Sometimes I go through the tumblr posts tagged "a cure for boredom." I'm amazed to note that many of the folks seem to be teenagers, but their keyboard-smashing posts about it are charming and funny. For some of them it is clearly the first sexually explicit fanfic they've ever read, and what an intro!! At the same time that it might be kinda overwhelming to some of them (oh god if I'd found that story as a teenager....I would definitely have had my first orgasm before I was almost twenty one for fuck's sake), the story shows people who care about each other, a lot of very healthy sex, a lack of shame about sexuality, and a shit-ton of stuff about safe sex practices. So, all in all, I think it's a force for good. If that makes sense.

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2012-11-16 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
No, and alas, I am too lazy to look it up on my fic recs.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-11-16 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
I completely agree! I weep for all the people who read 50 Shades of Gray as their introduction to porny lit, S&M, or both. POOR THINGS.

BTW, I'm reading "The Cold Song" series by Eldritchhorrors right now. Have you read it? JFC.
