Awake in a room of steam

Something in my brain/body is changing. I'm dreaming, regularly, for the first time in my adult life. The dreams aren't always pleasant, and sometimes they wake me up, but I am so fascinated and charmed by the fact that I am dreaming every night that I don't mind. Perhaps I'll get to the point where I keep a notebook by the bed to record them, but right now I'm just happy to be dreaming. It's amazing.

!

People always act so surprised/upset when I tell them I don't often dream.

I want to say it has to do with my bed, in that it is somewhat uncomfortable so I don't think I am ever truly asleep.

I always got the same reaction when I told people the same. Or they just didn't believe me.

I never knew why I didn't, but now I wonder if it's always been my fucked-up cortisol/adrenal issues and I'm just now getting them under control. That would be pretty awesome.

*crossing fingers*

Also, I think my life just got a measure better for knowing that musician exists.

Ha ha ha ha ha! SO HAPPY to introduce you to the Rev! I don't know how many times I got to see him live, back in the 90s when he was still touring regularly.

At the risk of sounding like one of THOSE PEOPLE, his earlier stuff really is better. It's Martini Time and Space Heater just don't live up to The Full Custom Gospel Sounds, IMO.

My favorite song of theirs, EVER:

SO GOOD and DIRTY.

My theme song, and it has a regular rotation on my running playlist.

ETA: Not embedding, so ...

Theme song (http://youtu.be/XfkZgvJGgU4)!

Did you ever go to a Rev show with me? I don't think so, and that is a damn shame. God damn, it's the only time I ever got drunk enough to dance on one of the tables at the Bottleneck. I may or may not have taken off my shirt.

TIME MACHINE, PLS!

Yes I did, but only one at the Bottleneck.

I went to a few of them with Aaron Sumner back in his touring all the time days. Aaron was the one that dubbed Big Little Baby as my theme song, and I've kept it.

I think I saw him four or five times at the Bottleneck, and only once at the Granada.

Wow, Aaron Sumner. Haven't thought of him in ages! OH GOOD TIMES.

Wow, I wonder if it is the cortisol balance coming int play!

It'll be fun to see what twisty things your dreams reveal.
:)

I wonder if it is the cortisol balance

I'm hoping that, yes! Wouldn't that be fab?

The dreams last night were sooooo dark and creepy and wonderful. I woke from one thinking "oh I hope I remember this" but it was more important for me to go back to sleep.

I always think I'll remember the epic dreams but no matter how much sense and how well I know them at the time, they do fade before I can get any notes about them.

Cool, two ways!

One-you're dreaming!

Two-if you're dreaming, you're sleeping, as opposed to getting stuck with insomnia! So good, all the way 'round!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2012-11-16 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! Good times!

I hope the dreaming is a sign your body's getting back to health. :)

Me, too! It's very exciting.
