Soup One

Today's my first day of eating according to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol. Yay. I didn't make the time (or have the energy) to go grocery shopping yesterday, so I had to make due with what was left in the house. Not much, but I made do.

For breakfast, I had a can of tuna mixed up with a diced pear. It was surprisingly not horrible. For lunch, I prepped last night a soup that wasn't woefully dull. It's going to take a bit of time before I stop being mopey about not using seed-based spices, though.

Soup One
4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs, diced
2 c stock
2 c water
2 c pureed butternut squash
1 head of cauliflower, roasted (roasting it takes time but adds SO MUCH flavor)
a lot of spinach
1/4 c coconut aminos
1 t garlic powder
1 t onion powder
1 t thyme
1/2 t turmeric
1 t salt

Add everything to soup pot except for the spinach and roasted cauliflower. Simmer until meat is cooked. Remove from heat and stir in vegetables. Stir until spinach is wilted.

Wow-so, no PEPPER?? I didn't even think about that, only the no seeds as actual foodstuffs part.

I guess you could chop up actual peppers to use, and just use the meat instead of the seeds....

Nope. Peppers (like bell peppers and chilis) are off the menu, too.

Hmmmm. Now that seems odd, but I confess I have not read the entire list of what's on and off the menu.

So, nothing that contains seeds of ANY kind?? Like tomatoes?
No-you said you had pears for lunch, so apparently some fruits are okay....

I guess you still have basil, oregano, mint, and the like. At least.

I admit I am not much of a cook, so I don't know what spices to use where, but cutting out seed spices seems awfully hard. I applaud your commitment to good health!

It's not a matter of things that have seeds in them. Read the full list and explanations at the link!

It's certainly an adventure!

That's a very bright side statement.

I'd be very pouty as well. I'm wishing you fortitude in general, although you don't need any help from me on that.

On another bright side, if you don't have any digestive upset from the pear, then fructose malabsorption is probably not an issue?

Yeah, I don't think it's fructose malabsorption.

Either that, or cutting out fruit earlier has given you a better handle on it. For me, it seems to be cumulative as to how much I can tolerate.

It seems like an interesting approach.

I hope this nails down your background problems… It'll be great to have a square one to return to that really works for you, I hope this is it.
