I don't even know anymore
Okay, first Celestial Seasonings teas, and now this. BLAH.
Having my folks here and being on my period at the same time was exhausting. Saturday I pretty much just walked around in a daze. I was too tired to go downtown to look at some shoes with
mckitterick. MARK THAT ON THE CALENDAR YOU GUIZ. And I took two naps yesterday. One before lunch, and one in the late afternoon. I went to bed at 10pm last night, turned off my alarm this morning and skipped yoga, then slept until 7am. It's not even noon and I'm ready for today's nap. Y'all, I am weary.

On the upside, it took a bunch of things instead of a cranky thyroid?

I've been well aware that "natural" is a crap designation and only certified organic is worth diddly, but I'm getting so tired of peering at labels every time I think about eating or purchasing something to eat.
We need to band together to support the locals and truth in labeling, it seems it's our only hope, Obi Watcanieat!
Hope you get caught back up on rest soon. I understand the angst at missing so many good things going on, and I've gotten radical about skipping what I don't have the energy to do. Not so easy with the infrequent folks' visit. :( My sympathy.

Good wishes toward getting caught back up on rest!

Well, just as well I don't go to Whole Foods - I can't afford it anyway, and the closest one is about a 40 minute drive.

We don't have a Whole Foods here, either. I'm gonna have to ask at Natural Grocers what their stance is next time I shop there, though. I'm pretty sure I can trust the local food co-op, but they're more expensive and farther away.

I fucking LOVE me some gifs, I tell you what.

I'm still iffy on this whole thing, and where the truth may lie. (oops)
I mean, it's rather interesting that the group that did this study has an interest in falling stock prices for the companies they research (http://www.examiner.com/article/dangerously-high-pesticide-levels-found-celestial-seasonings-teas).
I honestly don't know what to think, except that I'll err on the side of caution for the time being.
oh and peering at labels only got this annoying once they started making them so fucking tiny

Yeah, I'm going to be safe and only purchase teas that explicitly say "organic" now.

Celestial Seasonings states on its page that it and HAIN support truth-in-labeling and sell certified organic products, although I'm not sure where to find out which ones are labeled as such.
As with the whole OMG MILK-ASPARTAME! hype, which turns out to only mean flavored milks (and who buys that shit?), I think we're being led astray by money interests and stock market manipulating.
Maddening!!!

edit: I just read the article and it says nothing about the actual quality of the product, just the stock report...

I'm trying to find out more about whether or not there's any monetary connection between Eurofins, who did the testing and this Glaucus Research, who hired them to do it. If there's a connection there, well... can it really be trusted?

Being that it's no longer owned or headed by the original folks, I find myself still on the fence as well. I read the history page and their values pages (http://www.celestialseasonings.com/our-values-our-tea) in hopes of finding something more concrete, but maybe they feel it speaks for itself? :/

Well, I just found this, and hopefully this person has truly done the research.
Celestial Seasonings is owned by the Hain Celestial Group, as you know. HCG's major stockholders are Heinz and Monsanto.
From poster "EmeraldMatra" here. (http://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?97076-Celestial-Seasonings-teas-loaded-with-pesticides!)
Unfortunately for Twinings, this is not going to be very reassuring, either. (http://www.ethicalconsumer.org/buyersguides/drink/herbalandrooibosteas.aspx)

How how how how can a formerly organic food company have Monsanto as a major stockholder? WTF, Hain?
