Words to live by

I'm giving myself a Hippie Spa Day soon. Maybe Memorial Day weekend since [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick will be out of the house. Check these out: sugar scrub leg treatment and Listerine foot soak. Just think, a day on my own with wine, pampering, porn, and loud-ass music.

I'd like to be doing all that right now, actually.

I'm taking vacation days Monday and Friday of next week to work on the Chevelle. Two three-day weekends in a row, with only three work days in between! It's not the several-days-in-a-row that I wanted, but I gotta use up some vacation time before the end of KU's fiscal year or I'll lose it. Taking off a bunch of time simply isn't feasible right now.

Maybe I'll take a whole week of vacation in August.

CRAZY TALK I KNOW.

A spontaneous Tumblr collection occurred today. There are a few random posts in there, but it's mostly thematically based. Friday, May 10: Wise Words.

From the stuff I put up today:

This is an appropriate visual metaphor for my life.

I think that sounds like a fantastic day--pampering is good!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-05-10 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed!

I'm going to have to try that Listerine soak!

I have killer callouses on my feet; they're tearing up my hose on the first wearing!

I'm already wanting another vacation, and I haven't been back to work a month yet! *whines*

And that visual metaphor does not work half as well without the comments! :D

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-05-10 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, my feet get horrible, sharp callouses, too. Yuck.

I actually have tried the listerine footbath. Maybe my expectations were too high for a single soak, but I didn't notice a difference. Perhaps multiples would be better?

Those words of wisdom were wonderful -- many of them were Just Right for today. Thanks!

Yay! I'm happy you liked them. Thank you for letting me know.

So we won't be seeing you at ConQuesT this year? Damn.

Nope, I'm taking a year off. Have fun!

Today i made jet a sugar scrub out of one part white sugar, one part brown sugar, two parts coconut oil and some vanilla in the hopes that it will help the keratosis pilaris he has/has always had on his upper arms. OMG SMELLS SO GOOD.

It's not exactly natural, but what really helped my KP (also on my upper arms) is a one-two punch of Paula's Choice AHA (http://www.paulaschoice.com/shop/skin-care-categories/aha-and-bha-exfoliants/_/Skin-Perfecting-Eight-Percent-AHA-Gel-Exfoliant/) and BHA (http://www.paulaschoice.com/shop/skin-care-categories/aha-and-bha-exfoliants/_/Skin-Perfecting-Two-Percent-BHA-Gel-Exfoliant/) exfoliants, applied after my shower.

Thanks!

Oh, hey, thanks for the tip! I'm not particularly concerned about hte natural at this point, just something that will work. I didn't know you had had issues with it so I'm glad to hear a personal first hand recommendation. I had just happened to read that a lot of people had results with coconut oil, which is why we are trying it. I'm glad i mentioned it becuase if the sugar scrub doesn't work, i'll try the things you mentioned.

Added bonus--if it doesn't work, Paula's Choice has a really great money back policy.
