A study in contrasts

Crazy busy morning at work with a crazy busy afternoon at work expected. Smack in the middle is me sitting at home fucking around on the internet while I wait for the appliance repairmen to come look at our washing machine.

Update: Okay, so fantastic. They have to order a part. They'll call to schedule another appointment when it comes in.

I was beginning to grow concerned that this was the sort of thing you'd have to say when we heard from you today.

I adore that Q pic. There is never a bad time to use it. It makes everything a bit better.

Did you see him in Cloud Atlas?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-06-13 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I've avoided Cloud Atlas because I'm worried the knowlege of how heavily it was whitewashed will irritate me.

I'll probably see it sometime, though I don't know when.

of course it is a busy day. of course it is. grr.

I was excited about it then heard that and was worried. I put off watching it but we picked it up recently... it came across (to me) as less white washed than I *expected* it to be. The future society that was getting the most complaints about whitewashing came across more as a Star Trek alien race (weird). Overall, I liked it. Definately some problems, but less than I expected and less than I've seen elsewhere**.

** Keep in mind that *I* am white so I certainly don't have the breadth of knowledge and experience to make anything more than a personal opinion.

Luckily, I did as much as I possibly could this morning, so this afternoon is only slightly crazy. YAY PLANNING AHEAD.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-06-13 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's good to hear. Thanks!

So, was it the door lock mechanism?

And look at my cyber-brain. I didn't even ask about you. :(
So, how are you doing? I've been off LJ, so out of the loop for a few days....
Busy here-the bookkeeper is on vacay, so I'm doing my standard L/A stuff, plus her stuff-all the deposits, checks, escrows, and special reports, because we have some firm changes coming up....

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-06-13 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
No. It's one of the water valves. We knew that. Why they couldn't have waited to schedule a visit until they had the part I don't know.

GAh!!!

Our dryer has been in pieces for WEEKS. We didn't want to pay the $300 to have it fixed so my roommates have been trying to do it themselves. This has involved ordering parts. SIGH.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-06-14 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I...can't even fathom trying to fix an appliance myself. WOW.

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2013-06-14 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Dryers are stupidly simple inside, once they opened it up to show me. There's a belt that turns the drum, a metal coil that heats up (like in old fashioned electric heaters) and a strong vacuum to suck air out of the dryer. That's it.
