Got all the drive but a whole lot of boom in the back

Xmas was lovely this year--as it has been ever since I convinced [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick that it was perfectly fine and acceptable to spend the day with just the two of us together, no company, no family, no nothing, just us not getting out of pajamas (unless, it's to, you know, get naked together) and spending the day boozing and lounging and eating ourselves stupid. Just so so SO incredibly nice.

The boy really came through in the gift department this year. I mean, he is aces at gift-buying for me anyway, but this year was especially spectacular. The two toppers: A radar detector for the Chevelle, along with the promise that the car will be on the road for spring (*insert fistpump here*) and he bought me a second subwoofer. OH MY GOD YOU GUYS. Our stereo system is gonna sound so incredibly amazing. Man, our neighbors are gonna hate us.

Best. Partner. Ever.

A few days ago, a friend of mine asked about frenemies (not in one of my posts, in one of hers) and I said I'd never had a frenemy. I don't have the time, energy, or inclination for them. But I am frenemies with a few things. Things I love but hate, things I love to hate, things I want to love but can't because hate. And of course some things can be a combination of the three.

These things are:

Narnia.

Contemporary dance.

Joss Whedon.

Paleo-fied foods. In the interests of full disclosure, I need to state that I actually made these yesterday and Jesus Fucking Christ on a Cracker they were so God Damned Good I nearly made myself sick on them. Just...HOLY CHRIST. But nearly making myself sick on them involved eating only two. They're that rich.

In other news, today I figured out how to 1) Make the black outlined gif text in Photoshop. Wow, that was a lot harder than I thought it would be (I mean, it's not difficult, but like everything else in Photoshop, it's just so fucking arcane) and then 2) How to insert a reaction gif in a Tumblr photo post without the reaction gif showing up as a gray box. Also ridiculously tedious. And then [livejournal.com profile] aprilstarchild recommended I install xkit, so I did that and we'll see how that helps my Tumblr experience.

All that effort was so I could do this and I think we can agree that was Time Well Spent.

And now I'm waiting for the mail to arrive.

Time VERY well spent. *cackles* I installed Xkit a few days ago and my life is so much better. Time stamps! An outbox! Reply buttons! Amazing.

That sounds like such a wonderful way to spend Christmas. I'm glad you guys had a good one! And eeeeeeeeeeeeee, car!

I keep looking at that gif and laughing. Which is horrible. It's so tacky to laugh at one's own jokes, but...damn, that's just funny.

OMG I am crying laughing at Contemporary Eric.. your wahwahhawhat?!

BWAHAHAHAHAHH! :wipes tears: I'll never look at Pink's "Try" the same again.

Some people carry it off well. I think P!nk's video is amazing and I have nothing but love for it. Most people who do it, though (I'm looking at you, Kansas University dance program)? No. Just...no.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2013-12-26 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I love Pink's vid as well, it's just the head catching bit from this made me laugh about it.
I used to love modern dance.. but now? Ugh, not so much. I'm really with you on anything I've seen out of KU.

God, don't get me started on their theatrical productions. I've given up attending them. They're all just NOT to my taste. At all.

Glad you had an awesome Christmas

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-12-26 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Hope yours was good, too. Did you wind up seeing a movie with Agnes?

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2013-12-26 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Our Christmas is tonight. Agnes had a headache so we did not go to the movie.

That sounds like an amazing Christmas together and awesome presents. Whoohoo!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-12-27 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It was FANTASTIC! I can't wait to do it again.

Glad I finally watched the dance video, it reminded me of some BD/modern fusion videos that were posted on the bellydance LJ group for a while. I'm sure you remember them! There was one band he forgot to mention: Florence and the Machine.

Right now my big love/hate relationships are with music, mainly my affection for Coldplay and Mumford and Sons. I like bombastic rock music and I cannot lie.

Glad you had a great holiday! I think at some point I'd like to shift the big meal/gift time to the Eve and have Christmas day for recuperating and relaxing.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-12-27 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I loooooooove bombastic rock. I assume you like Muse? How about 30 Seconds to Mars? SO. GOOD.

My family always used to do Xmas Eve and then we'd go visit my grandparents (about two hours away) on the Day. As an adult, though, I have to work on Xmas Eve unless the governor gives us the day off, which doesn't happen often.

[identity profile] kazoogrrl.livejournal.com 2013-12-27 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, I'm going to have to check them both out!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-12-27 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, do! My favorite Muse album is The 2nd Law.

[identity profile] kazoogrrl.livejournal.com 2013-12-28 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

Yes! We do xmas eve with Nick's family and reserve xmas day for Chinese food and/or movies or whatever I feel like doing since I don't have family. I ended up making a gigantic batch of tamales and drank so much Ponche NavideƱo that I sloshed when I moved.

We also toned down our Christmas celebration this year, kept it to a bare minimum. Not quite as minimum or potentially-bare as you and your lad, but still intimate and nice.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2013-12-28 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't it just wonderful? Ahhhhhhhhhh.
