I am not gonna lie, I have always been a fan of skinhead fashion and this critique of the new Doctor's look makes me happy even though I have no plans to watch the show. Because bringing back this sort of style? YES PLEASE.

mckitterick found in the attic an ancient old Microsoft ergo keyboard that did not have tea spilled in it, so I brought that to work this morning and now have something that isn't horribly killing my wrists to use, so YAY! Of course, I also have about eighty zillion things to do for work today, so BLAH.

At least I can type information into my spreadsheets in comfort.

I like the outfit on the doc. Esp the long jacket. But then I googled, "skinhead style" and didn't come up with fashion that looks like that, so ??? I'm not clear on that goes into the skinhead fashion box, but I do like that loooooong jacket.

It's hard to find good articles/representation of early skins because the culture so quickly got co-opted by the neo-nazi element. It's unfortunate. The original skins were, granted, pretty anti-hippie, and that conservatism was inviting to the more radical, hateful groups. Unfortunate.

I do like the new Doctor's style. I'm really glad they didn't dress him up old-old. He just needs some skinny suspenders. It will also be interesting to see how they change this outfit. They were altered slightly with both David Tennant and Matt Smith, small things like having a vest or suspenders, the color of the suit or color of the tie. People claim that they are different based on whether they are going back in time or forward in time, but you can find evidence that breaks those rules, so maybe not.

The polished Docs remind me of a customer of mine from my Borders days. He was a soft spoken Marine from Tuscaloosa, AL. His jeans always fit perfectly, his Docs were always polished, and among his tattoos was one of a unicorn! Super polite, lovely accent, smokin' hot. *sigh* I had a huge crush on him and I think it was possibly reciprocated, but then I quit while he was sent out on a mission to who knows where (couldn't tell me) and I never saw him again.

Anyway, new Doctor, looks quite good! I'll keep these ideas tucked away for ways to keep Justin well turned out as we get older.

He would lower his voice when he cussed, too, it was adorable. He had been offered a scholarship to study classical guitar at a local college and was thinking of getting out of the Marines. This was 6 months before 9/11, I hope he went to school.
