It doesn't get easier, you just get used to it

[livejournal.com profile] mckitterick is at a local SF con this weekend and I'm enjoying the time alone in the house. I've had a wonderful evening of loud music and porn, but as I was getting ready for bed I had an overwhelming moment of grief for missing my Fetish girl that nearly brought me to tears.

God damn it I still miss my cat like she was here yesterday.

napping

I am so sorry. What a sweet, sweet kitty. You are so right. It doesn't go away. My therapist says, "Isn't that a good thing, that we remember those we loved?" I don't know what I think about that. Maybe . . . but it's a dumb question anyway, because of course we remember them. We can't forget. So why ask if it's good or bad? I guess I think it's good that I remember those I've lost, but it's not good that they're gone, and it never will be. I get tears in my eyes looking at this picture, because it makes me think of cats that I've lost. May the sweetness of memory balance its sadness for you.

Thank you for your beautiful comment.

I treasure my memories of Fetish, but the pain of her loss is too much to balance. I don't regret adopting her, but I don't want any other pets again. It's hard for [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick because he wants another kitty, but I can't do it.

Playing devil's advocate here, if you ever think you'd be in a position to do it see if local rescues need foster homes. It's sad when they are adopted but good sad. I do know that many of them need people to help socialize their cats and it's a good way to get in some loving w/o a pet.

I promise not to mail you one of my fosters. ;)

Understandable!

I've had cats, and lost cats, but there are some that are once in a lifetime special. *hugs*

Yep. *hugs back*

She was pure love.

Well. 99% love, 1% fur.

KITTY! Cats are awesome. I miss my childhood ones still, so I'm not surprised it's still rough.

We had a dog when I was growing up, but I guess I never connected to her the way I did my cat. Because damn.
