It still counts as doing too much even when you want to do it

Okay, well...I'm back/still on the SCD pureed food plan. I continued to feel pretty shitty after eating the solid food on Monday night, right up until I went to bed. Still felt uncomfortable when I went to bed, but at least I woke up feeling okay. I started adding a good amount of fat (and salt and pepper) to my purees, though, and noticed a huge improvement in my energy levels and general outlook on life. I even made it to the gym Monday and today (Wednesday)!

So I think I'm gonna stick with it for a while longer. Long-term, I'm going to add in All The Vegetables before I start reintroducing fruit (no semantics about fruit/vegetables--you know what I mean).

As for things I won't re-introduce at all, I've said this before, but I'm gonna try to stick with it this time--at least for the foreseeable future--No Nuts and No Dried Fruit. The only exception is when I'm traveling and don't have access to a kitchen. Nuts and dried fruit (or raw fruit) is pretty tough on my GI tract and I don't need the extra calories--much less the hit of sugar from dried fruit. So, gone.

I was feeling kinda tired this morning but really wanted to lift some weights, so I went to lift weights and then had such a bad post-breakfast swelling reaction that I had to change my outfit before I left for work. *sigh* I know there is some correlation between stress and swelling, but it's not like that's the only time I swell a lot. Just when I am under a lot of stress, I always swell more. It's a squares and rectangles thing. I'm super tired, now, too, and I think I'm gonna lie down for a nap and just stay late to make up the time. ETA: AH HA HA HA HA HA HA NO. That so did not happen. Wow things got busy fast.

Andrew sent me a message yesterday asking how I was doing. Aw. He's such a good trainer.

*fingers crossed* that you see some improvement!

We are all pulling for you!

Oh Em Gee, that's so AWESOME! It's like you're the hunter, and I'm the present but impalpable specter of HIGH FIVEDNESS.

damn, a nap would have been nice. Glad you're finding some balance with this shitty diet. Bodies are weird. I'm hoping your diet can trick yours into being nicer to you.

What that from?!

I think the fruit deletion is a wise choice.
I'm a little worried about you pushing yourself to work out when your body says "tired", but I know you'll find the happy medium. :)

It's hard for me to think of it as "pushing" when it feels so good, you know? *sigh* I just feel so much better when I can throw some weights around.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2014-06-12 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeh, I totally get it.

Ok, so you need/can handle more fat than the diet initially recommends - that's valuable information! I'm gonna guess too, that if you hit a wall with this again, you might be better off modifying it a bit to suit your needs. (Like trying a roasted or sauteed vegetable one day, instead of just puree?) I want so much for you to feel better. *hugs*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2014-06-12 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! More information is always good. I wonder if this diet was developed around/for people who are basically sedentary to start. They're too sick to move, you know? So yes, I'm happy that I realized I need to make modifications as necessary as long as they don't deviate too far from the original plan.

From what I've understood, it was developed for people with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, severe IBS and celiac, so is it probably just a way of giving them *some* nutrition while slowly introducing/eliminating problematic foods? It's definitely not enough nutrition for someone actually working out, and who doesn't having absolutely disabling issues.

Man, though, I gotta say my belly is feeling SO much better. Since I'm speeding things up, though, and re-introducing foods faster, I think I'll be on solid food by next month!

Hooray!
and I think it is awesome that your trainer checks in on you :)

I don't think I can really describe how fantastic he is. He's just really such a great trainer, coach, and all-around guy.
