December 18, Day Seven

Day One: Ten random facts about yourself.
Day Two: Nine things you do everyday.
Day Three: Eight things that annoy you.
Day Four: Seven fears/phobias.
Day Five: Six songs that you’re addicted to.
Day Six: Five things you can’t live without
.
Day Seven: Four memories you won’t forget.
Day Eight: Three words you can’t go a day without using.
Day Nine: Two things you wish you could do.
Day Ten: One person you can trust.

I have an unusual relationship with memories in that they rarely evoke an emotional response. Even the good ones. It's less of a "I remember that and it makes me feel X" and more of a "I remember that it made me feel X." Here are four memories I am grateful to have.

1. My 2007 trip to Italy with [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick.
2. The sensation of cuddling with my Fetish kitty.
3. Observing the (peaceful) death of my grandmother in our house when I was a teenager.
4. Living alone in my house on Tennessee Street for a few short years.

Was living alone a good memory?
I treasure every one of my times of having a place to myself.

OH GOD YES. I still dream about my tiny little apartment in Capitol Hill, Seattle. I miss it a whole lot.

Solidarity!

There's a peace in living alone that some people just can't understand. Not to mention having everything EXACTLY where you want it.

that's weird. I can see it.

Lady Gaga agreeing.

I love your living alone memories. I have those as well. I too witnessed my grandma's death. It was at the hospital, so not quite as tranquil, but there was something peaceful about it. It's very humbling (hmm maybe not the word I'm looking for) to be a witness to someone's passing.

I agree. And also educational. I'm not looking forward to death, don't get me wrong, but it's not a terrifying concept to me, anymore.
