Peeve

The professor who had the office across from me is on sabbatical and a different prof is taking over his administrative position for the duration. Three people now have stopped by to say something along the lines of "Wow, F! You've changed!" or "Gosh, I didn't recognize you!"

Why is this funny? Do people who say this think they're being clever? I don't get it.
