Some small success

Last night I carefully packed up all the bodice supplies in a tidy plastic bin and closed it. That can wait until the weekend, thank Maude. With that out of my way, I could finally wade through the crap in my sewing room to locate the half-finished Bellydance costume #2. Managed to get not quite as much done as I'd hoped, but still a decent amount. Finished the belt entirely, completed embellishment on the sleeves, and got the skirt cut for BD costume #1. Realized that I used the fabric I was going to use for the BD costume #2 for the whore skirt. Oops. Must pick up something else now. Good thing I still have a JoAnn's coupon.

So, revised to-do list:
Whore costumes
  • Start all over on bodices from square one, but with assistance
  • Make or purchase pouch/purse
  • Purchase belt and fan
    Dance costumes
  • Piece together and line vest for costume #2
  • Hem skirt for costume #1
  • Purchase and cover bra for costume #1
  • Skirt for costume #2 (I can always use an old skirt if I run out of time, though)

My goodness but things are looking so much more manageable! I might even go crazy and make myself a second chemise for the whore costume. Last night while digging through dance costume fabrics I found a possible contender for a lovely tan chemise with tone-on-tone embroidery. Hmmmmm....

I'm quite amused by the fact that [livejournal.com profile] 0verdrive really really likes BD costume #2. To the point that he's commented on it (unprovoked) more than twice. It's very much against type for me: gray, blue and silver when I'm pretty much a black, red, and gold girl.

If you are looking for a basic belt pouch at budget prices, try this ebay seller, who sells pouches like this
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2250488982&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
I got two belts from him, he's a very good seller who responds to email quickly. No black pouches in stock at the moment, only two shades of brown. If you really need black and want to try this seller, I can email asking if he will do up 2 black pouches and we can go in on an order together.

Wow, that is cheap. I like this style (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13961&item=2250489344) more, though. It's a little more feminine. I will probably wind up just making myself a bag out of fabric I already have at this point, though. I've already spent a bit of cash on this gig. And this way my pouch can match my bodice. =) If I decide for next year that I want something a little more durable, though, I'll let you know.

    one word on pouches... lining.
Bad rainy stuff and all my gear in my fabric pouch got soaked two (or was it three?) years ago.
wow, your sewing is really coming along!

Oooo. Good idea. I was gonna buckram it so it wasn't all squishy, but I hadn't considered the damp factor.

I hope to get pics of the dance costumes this weekend, and bodice pictures maybe by weekend after? But yes, there will certainly be pictures galore!
