Furry Road

This collection of mash-ups has been playing since I discovered it on Tumblr this morning.

I'll be making some modifications to it (obviously), but now that I've figured out how to make a cream-style dressing that I can eat, wedge salads are back on my menu and this recipe (found linked on The Toast) gives a fantastic tutorial on making a good one.

I'm ordering this. If you're local and want one, let me know by 10am tomorrow and we can split shipping.

Next time I'm thrifting, I'll keep my eyes peeled for an old bundt pan because hanging this for the squirrels is going to be comedy gold, y'all.

There are rumors that university support staff here might be furloughed and I'm actually okay with that because even without [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick's generous financial support, I have enough in savings to get by a couple months with no income. However, what concerns me (i.e. pisses me off) is it sounds like we might actually not get paid tomorrow for the previous two weeks. Is that legal? I don't think that's legal and I realize businesses do illegal things all the fucking time, but this seems really...blatant? I understand that thanks to our fuckwad of a governor, the state is in a huge mess but you best pay me for work already done assholes.

There are actually things going on today that I need to do, so that's about it for today. We had a fire alarm this morning that kept me out of the building for about half an hour, so that was fun.

*gnashes teeth at [university]* Not getting paid for work you've already done is infuriating and absolutely not legal. Your state is gonna get sued by every union and its mother for that. I know, they'll have to get in line. *snerk*

Our state budget crunch furloughs were not so terrible- they spread out the days over the space of about eight months so they didn't hit us in the pocketbook too badly. Here's hoping yours are as painless as possible. *hugs*

Thanks for confirming what I suspected. This is what happens when these douchebags (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries) own one's government.

I am in trouble if I don't get paid tomorrow. I have money in savings, so I guess I can draw on that, but that isn't in the plan. I have other plans for that money and I resent that fuckwad bureaucrats (who sound like they are essential and will therefore get paid) are affecting my plans.

Also, I haven't gotten reimbursed $1200 for the trip to Atlanta in April. I was told that would be on a paycheck rather than a separate reimbursement.

Just confirming what others said, though it may be a bit delayed!

If the furlough happens, it will apply to pay for work starting on Monday, so the first affected paycheck will be July 3. Still not great, but at least there's some buffer to prepare.

OH GOOD. Okay, thanks for that clarification. Whew!

There should be a bundt pan in my house. I find it, you can have it.

How super awesome and sweet! Thank you!

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2015-06-05 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeh, it's even KS state DOL law that one must be paid for work already done. Jeebus, how will the employees who aren't so solvent be able to make it?
Is this the same shite as the threatened gov't shit-downs that happen every year.. empty threats? I've never heard of it actually happening, have you?

I'm sad because iceberg, tommies, onions and bread crumbs are all off my eatables. What cream dressing did you find? I am tiring of mayo on all my salads.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-05 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
The dressing is just my homemade mayo with seasonings, so....sorry. =/

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2015-06-06 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
No, don't be.. what seasoning do you use? I think that's what I need to quit being bored with blended mayo.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-06-06 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I use roasted garlic powder, roasted onion powder, dried chives, and dried parsley. If it's too thick (mayo can be so variable), I whisk in a bit of almond or coconut milk, whichever I have on hand.

If you're looking for something completely different, the non-creamy dressing I make is balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and prepared mustard (I like spicy stone ground).

Oh yesssss. Thank you.

Oh man, we need that art for the kitten room (where our foster cats live). I also need to pick up this Lokitty:

OMG THAT SHIRT MUST HAVE ONE FOR ME TO WEAR TO CLASS

Indeed

I wouldn't think that would be legal, but it wouldn't shock me if they try to do it anyway and potentially get away with it. -.- Asshats.

Furlough talk scares the absolute shit out of me. I have no savings so if we end up with furloughs, I'm buggered but good.
