It is 82F in my office

Obviously they have not fixed the AC problem. They thought they did, but neglected to contact anyone in the affected building to confirm the problem was actually fixed. Typical.

I have an appointment with Dr. Jonah tonight and instead of driving back to Lawrence, I'm staying the night in KC with [livejournal.com profile] miischelle so I have only a half-hour drive to the airport tomorrow morning instead of a 75-90 minute drive. That's good, because this is, I think, gonna be a full flight and I don't want to get on it with an hour and a half in the car behind me. I checked in online this morning, fifteen minutes after the slot opened up for online cattle call (ugh, Southwest), and I'm in the second half of B boarding group. For a 5:30am flight. Ugh. I decided to check my luggage. I don't want to be That Person trying to find space in an overhead bin. It's a non-stop flight so hopefully nothing will go wrong.

My stomach is so swollen today it's touching the keyboard rest of my standing desk. Compared to this image, I am equivalent to the fifth stage of this image (first image on bottom row). Much big. So discomfort.

God it's so fucking hot in here. My office has no air movement. This is miserable. It's not even noon.

I am strongly tempted to tap out early today.

I think you can check bags for free on SWA, if that will decompress your trip a bit.

Have a great trip!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's just I don't like to check them because of all my supplements being in there.

It is probably due to people like me who just go ahead and pay the little bit of extra money for automatic check-in, and thus, I always get in A group. There are probably enough of us that we fill up all the A spots.

I would tap out because it isn't going to get cooler today.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm lucky--I don't much care which group I'm in because the last time I flew with someone else it was 2007 and [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick and I were going to Italy. So sitting next to my person of choice isn't an issue, and I'm going to be miserable the entire time anyway, so window-aisle-middle doesn't much matter. Secretly I kind of like when I'm forced into a middle seat because then the people to either side of me are either forced to read the filthy fanfic on my laptop monitor or learn to keep their eyes to their fucking selves.

I was just surprised at the group and number. Heck, I've checked in hours later than the start time and still gotten in A group. But this is one of the few non-stop flights between KC and Vegas, so I guess I'm not terribly surprised.

Hahahahahahahahaha!

I don't like having to squeeze inbetween people or navigate when it is really crowded, so I like that A boarding so I can get settled quickly and just sit there while other people start having to squeeze around. And sitting by the window never gets old for me. I love gazing out the window and be like, "OMFG--l'm actually flying through the air!" I really do love that window seat.

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2015-07-16 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
I lurve window seats. On the way back from 221b con we flew over the Grand Canyon! And then (on another leg of the flight) we passed San Fransisco!

Also because I like nesting in my seat without worrying about other people needing to walk over me and my stuff. And because I can tilt my phone away from people and then they DON'T know I'm reading slash....lol

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-16 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
I always feel bad taking a window seat because I can't look outside. I get too motion sick. =/ Lucky people who can enjoy the scenery without fear of nausea!

Poor darling. Tap out. Those are unworkable conditions. It's why we have sick days.

I hope your appointment tonight goes well and safe travels!!!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I think I'm going to try to tough it out until 2. I'm working on a massive spreadsheet project that I'd really like to be half done with before I leave...

[identity profile] mundungus42.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you can take frequent water breaks until then. Or at least shed your shoes and/or other articles of clothing.

Oooo, nekkid office day?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm wearing as little as possible right now. I'm not even wearing a bra. Just one of those flimsy "shelf bra" camisoles with a short knit skirt. No other top or shrug. If anyone says anything about my being inappropriately dressed, they will be encouraged to suck my left tit.

[identity profile] mundungus42.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops. I'm supposed to be cooling you off. Does this help?

Ha! Actually, yes. I appreciate him aesthetically, but that's about it.

[identity profile] mundungus42.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Then my work here is done- you're cool, I'm hotter :D

Lordy, listening to his purring as Kahn this weekend cranked up to full volume and shaking the stage I was on was an exquisite form of whatever-the-opposite-of-torture is.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree he is very sexy, and I did have one very nice dream about him (http://clevermanka.livejournal.com/956018.html) a while ago.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think I'm leaving at 2. This is exhausting me and I don't need to START this Vegas trip already tired.

[identity profile] 1-rhiannon-1.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG you can have my AC, I swear. We don't need it.

I hope your flight goes smoothly!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! and Thanks!

[identity profile] seascribe.livejournal.com 2015-07-15 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugggh, I can't believe they haven't even set you up with temporary fans or ANYTHING.

Safe, smooth travels tomorrow, bb!

Thank you!

KU's treatment of their employees has gone steadily downhill the entire time I've had this job. Used to be a KU gig was pretty sweet (and it's still better than a lot of stuff out there, NGL), but compared to what it was when I had my first full-time job here in the 90s....not so much. =(

[identity profile] chalcedonygrey.livejournal.com 2015-07-17 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Boo to hot offices! Glad you got out of there! TGhe half of the building I'm in's AC appears to be dead. The other half's AC is fine; the temperature gradient is a little startling. One of the ladies has been complaining loudly and keeps getting told "Oh, the AC will kick on any minute now!" even though it's been 80-85 this whole stupid week.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-17 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
GROSS. I hope you're in the cool half.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2015-07-17 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
Thankfully by the time you read this, you'll be outa there and on your way to the Land of Perpetual AC.
Have a wonderful time!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2015-07-17 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
So far it's great! Everyone at the con is super chill. It's a much older demographic than 221B Con and so far not a single excited squee. Just quiet laughter and a lot of old-lady dry humor.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2015-07-18 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
sounds great!
