So I've found out that lots of people don't want to listen to a musical before seeing it? And? What? The Fuck?

Do you not listen to a musician's albums before seeing them live?

Like, I get that I have an auditory processing issue and otherwise I have no clue what's going on (lol I saw Rent on tour without ever listening to it, and I got bored because I couldn't follow the plot at all) but....shit yo, I want to have Hamilton MEMORIZED before it eventually comes to Portland on tour. I want to know the meaning of every fucking line. Yes.

I can understand it rationally. Maybe there are people whose brains work incredibly differently than mine, and they are somehow able to grok the gestalt of the musical: music, lyrics, visuals, plot details and intermediary songs, dancing, everything, hupon first viewing and I imagine that would be such a fucking rush because what other medium allows for that? If your brain could allow for it. Which mine doesn't. So yeah, the idea of doing that myself is kind of repellent. But there's gotta be something about it that appeals to them!

Me? Yes though, I'm going to have scored the internet for every gifset, every (sneaked) release of music not on the soundtrack, every everything. Fuck yeah. I want to have seen this musical a million times in tiny little pieces and devour them all before seeing it live, complete.
