I clicked on option #1 because that's what I would expect for a really structured playlist that has, IDK, progression or sth. I would also scroll. *g*

I feel the same way! Like, too many songs and IDK, I feel like it loses its focus? But I'm sitting at sixteen songs in this Weilan playlist I made for the 5/20 exchange since I couldn't commit to signing up and I've dicked around so much with the order for, like, Actually Weeks. Taking songs out, adding songs, putting songs back in....and it's not like anyone's expecting anything of this except maybe some good music recs but still. It's my first contribution to the fandom (along with the monstrous amount of Tumblr posts I'm gonna be spamming my poor followers with on Monday) and I want it to be good?

Also, if it's over that much, no-one will actively listen to it from start to end. If you have a very structured one where every song is important, I'd actually recommend keeping it in the 6-10 range to keep the focus.

I don't think anyone would object to a very long list. Kieron Gillen maintains one for his comic The Wicked and the Divine and it has nearly five hundred. They may not listen to it all in one go, but unless you're trying to make a concept album of it, they don't need to.

Similarly, I keep playlists for the game I'm making and each of its characters. The character lists top out around 12 currently 'cause they're specific and I try to keep them fairly even with each other so everyone's favorite is equally represented. The general list has no limit, but I also keep future characters' songs in there until I debut them so its count fluctuates.
