Friday Update
I finished the fic and sent it to my (saintly new) beta yesterday! I think it's likely she'll have suggestions on things to cut, but regardless of how long it winds up being once I upload it to AO3, I wrote twelve thousand words in thirteen days. o_O It was exhausting and I am not doing that again anytime soon. The only reason I pushed myself so hard was to meet the September 2 deadline for
teaotter 's challenge and I wanted to be sure to give my new beta plenty of time with this monster (since I'd told her it was probably gonna wind up being in the 6-7k range (ha ha ha ha ha). I also like to send my revisions back to beta for a final once-over and I wanna give her plenty of time for that too (since I don't know if many people do that). But whew.
After I let it go I was completely wiped for the rest of the day. Like, zero executive function.
The next thing I'm going to write is the space poem which has no deadline and will absolutely not be anywhere near in the range of even a thousand words so...ahhhhhhhhhh.
I'm not even opening up a Word document today, though. Today is Art Day since
mckitterick (of course!) figured out in about thirty seconds what was wrong with the airbrush. Another misaligned o-ring, but a different one than last time. Pretty soon I'll have all these figured out. Just in time for something mechanical to break down, probably.

(Did I mention that you could do more than one thing for the challenge? Like, write a story AND post meta? If you're looking for something to do until your beta gets back to you... *nudge nudge*)

Which is not my trying to tempt you, actually, other than to say that I love Guardian and would be happy to subscribe to your newsletter!

Upside: when I'm done, it's pretty much done.

I've consumed fan content for a while, now, and produced a few pieces of fan art, but I've never been pulled into writing something like this. Guardian is fucking magical for real.
