Ghost Story
Today I begin the outline for Ghost Story AU! I'm frexcited! I hope I can pull this off. Hell, I hope I can finish it. This is me not freaking out about starting a multi-chapter story.
It's an AU where the SID characters in Guardian are international graduate students in English studies (ha!) attending a Midwestern state university (HA!) on an one-year exchange program. Write what you know bitches! I think I mentioned already that it's also a fusion of a 1939 romance novel called Tryst that not a single person I know (besides me, my mother and my Nana) has read. But the only thing reading the novel will really tell you is how the fic will end, so...
Of course I assigned what I thought would be likely areas of study for the SID (Students of International Diplomacy!) team.
Zhao Yunlan: Creative writing, fiction
Da Qing: Creative writing, poetry
Zhu Hong: Feminist eco-criticism
Chu Shuzi: Composition & Rhetoric, language studies (not in the SID, tho, he's a Chinese-American U.S. citizen)
Guo Changcheng: Composition & Rhetoric, pedagogy
Lin Jing: Early modern/Shakespeare
Sang Zen: Southern US lit/slave narratives
Wang Zheng: Romantic/Gothic lit
I hope someone on the
sid_guardian comm will have a lead on where I can find a list of all the Dixing powers we see during the course of the show. I don't want to have to finish watching the show before I can start writing but I'm not gonna incorporate all the different powers in the order they appear and I don't want to get to, like, episode 28 and be all "oh dang wish I'd put that in chapter two!"
