I absolutely ordered this Hugo Award Winner sticker because that admin post on AO3 was written (or was encouraged to be written) by people who hate joy. I will call myself a Hugo winner if I damn well please because A of all it's hilarious and second, fuck a bunch of that gatekeep-y malarkey. I actually ordered ten of the stickers (size small) so I'll have extras. All y'all FELLOW HUGO AWARD WINNERS who want one, send me a direct message with your mailing address.

I actually hadn't ccalled myself a Hugo Winner, even jocularly, because I thought I should focus on praising the people who put AO3 together. But deciding that on my own and being lectured about it by some killjoy are two DIFFERENT THINGS.

I love that the person (people) defending it doesn't have an AO3 account... They're clearly just mad that they aren't a Hugo winner! 😝

(I'm a little sad I'm not still on staff because I'd have LOVED to see the eyerolling that putting that post together involved. I wonder how many drafts it took to reduce the snark to simply simmering rather than boiling over...)

The best part is that I didn't really care much beyond the tweets and Tumblrs of OMG WE WON A HUGO before, and now I am considering putting "HUGO AWARD WINNER" in all my bios everywhere out of pure spite.
