Thursday

Ow. My arm is killing me. I think I'm going to have to not beg ask the PTs to rub me so hard, no matter how good it feels at the time. My arm is a mess of beginning bruises right now. They should be pretty spectacular by the weekend.

I also got the electro-shock treatment yesterday. That was interesting. Can't yet tell if it did much good. I slept in my brace last night, which helped a bit, but I should have worn it to work today to keep me off the keyboard. It hurts to pick up my coffee mug, if that's any indication.

Life is ok right now. Last night we went to a support group meeting for the local chapter of NAMI. A couple of the people there were really cool, a couple I wanted to club to death. Par for the course I suspect. I don't know that it helped me, but it was good to be there for Kij. I think the brownies I baked when I got home did me more good than the meeting.

One nice thing about not having much of an appetite is I have carte blanche when it comes to what I eat. Of course, I'll have to rein that in a bit once life adjusts back to normal habits and eating patterns.

And that's probably all I should type today.

*looks at the bruise*

:O My first thought isn't really printable...

In this LJ? Hon, anything's printable here.

Parental training is pretty well ingrained. ;)

But my first thought was 'Holy crap!'

Y'all should see how colorful her arm is in real life.

Sux to bruise like a peach, eh? The price of having perfect alabaster skin, perhaps. ;)

Hope all this therapy stuff does some good. I have contemplated the prospects of CT with horror for some time now. That and the tendencies towards arthritis on me mother's side are like my Scylla and Charybdis.

Luckily, mine's not carpel tunnel, just tendonitis. "just"...ha.

"Just" indeed!

Yar, I gets tendonitis in me elbow and sometimes in me wrist, which, for a guitar player, is particularly crappy and frightening. The tendonitis in my elbow was near-constant while I was working at E&E...which is when it popped into existence in the first place. Ugh. Strange that one can find self saying "luckily" in the case of tendonitis, but it's horribly true. A friend from High School, who played clarinet at a professional level, developed CT in both her hands. Horrible, horrible.

Does that mean you can expect a full recovery (or should I just make sure to finish the last two weeks' worth of LJ posts before posting questions?)?

CT patients, if they have the surgery, get a minimum 10% reduction in grip strength, IIRC. I'm unfamiliar with tendonitis treatment.

I really have no idea of what I can expect...I'd be happy to just have less pain. But I'll have to suffer a lot more pain to have surgery. I do Not want surgery.

FYI - splints come in nice black instead of just the icky tan

when I got mine and had to wear them all the time I was VERY happy to find them in black - and therefore a "fashion statement" instead of an injury
