Pity Party

Everything's done for Faire (whore-wise) except for the bodices. I'm waiting on boning. I hope I can get it in time.

Media Party was ok (it didn't rain--hurrah) and Site Day was tolerable. I'm worried that I haven't found the heart for Azucena yet. I now understand [livejournal.com profile] rougewench's struggles to call forth The Madam every year. Last year I went into the situation as A Virgin and gradually developed into The Spanish. Now I know who she is, but I don't know where. If anyone sees her, please mention that I'm looking for her.

The Missing Check has been discovered. It was to Jeff's Curbside Recycling. Apparently he didn't see it taped to the lid of the recycle bin. Presumably it's buried in some pile of recycled office paper somewhere. It was only for $15, so not worth stopping payment on it. That's one thing off my mind at least.

I spent about an hour last night fiddling with options for the Middle Eastern Weekend costume(s). I'm not happy with either of the belt bases I cut out. One is going to be very tricksy and I don't have the time or energy right now. The other looks too jester-ish. Bleh. I Am Uninspired.

Thinking about Hurricane Katrina wiping out New Orleans is hitting me really hard. That trip (and hence the city) was magical for me. It makes me unreasonably sad to think that I might not get to see those buildings again. The whole thing is ridiculous. Think how much more upset the residents are...but still. I'm so very sad. Does anyone know if [livejournal.com profile] green_tara76 cancelled her trip? Suxxor. Sorry, hon.

And, selfishly, I'm a mite concerned about how the hurricane is going to affect our own weather patterns. Honestly, my hip hasn't quite recovered from New York. I'm worried about getting around if we have too many wet days in a row here.

It doesn't matter that it's beautiful outside. I feel like I'm raining.

Maybe the Spanish and the Madam are off partying it up somewhere and we'll manage to find them together.

Hopefully somewhere in the first portion of Saturday.

I feel much the same way about the possible loss of one of my favorite places on the planet...

That would be fantastic! And maybe they'll share whatever it is they're drinking.

One thing about this form of character creation is that they are, in a very stong sense, context driven. The Spanish has not emerged because Brigadoon, so to speak, has not yet emerged from the mist. I often have had the Madam not really arrive until opening day.

It's just usual (which I have not had this year) that I have had some promos ahead of time to play with that headspace a bit in advance. I have come to trust generally that she still fits like a well worn glove, and that there has just not yet been a need to summon her. I know that me wearing the rain hair was not helpful to me, in that I never really feel fully Madamesque without the huge hair.

Rather like waiting for the loa to show up, isn't it?

I second the Madame's assertion that it could also be costume related. I've always had trouble with Azure; she'd be around, but of the opinion that she's rather be somewhere else. Anywhere else, and it was like pulling teeth to get her to stay.

But when I laced up my bodice for Media Party, and I had that whole black ensemble, plus gray/blue make-up instead of the browns, she literally pushed me aside to take her place. "This is mine now," was the new attitude. So maybe some of your current costume frustrations (like uncertainty about getting your boning on time and finishing up the bodice - which is really the peice that brings it all together - having to wear too-big bloomers, etc) are keeping her away.

Good luck. Call us if you want company at the party. ;)

The black and navy rocks. People who say blue eyed blondes can't wear black have never seen Azure.

People say blue eyed blondes can't wear black? Huh.

And, thanks.

Indeed, my dear, indeed.

You are not alone in (selfishly?) wondering what Katrina is going to do to our local weather.

I love an LJ entry that includes the word "whore-wise" in its first sentence!

I aim to please.

Clowns terrify me.

Yeah, here's something scarier-- It's a self-prtrait by John Wayne Gacy!

Wow, thanks for sharing!

That is *exactly* what I was just about to comment! "Whore-wise" will make me happy all day.

Especially when it is soon followed by "I'm waiting on boning." Aren't we all, miss, aren't we all?

On a happy note...

...I am looking forward to seeing you out at Faire this year my dear, and getting to chat, to know you better. :0) I may (read "if I get my new townhome in gear") be out to see you Thursday night.

Schweet.

Hang in there...I know that's about as canned of a phrase as one can muster, but it's been one of my mottos lately.

Thanks for the words of support. Maybe I'll see you Thursday.

You'll find her once you sit on the bench in front of T'ger's and grip your umbrella handle. I'm sure of it =)

Eh, it can't be much worse than my boyfriend and I wondering just how much this means they'll get to 'start over' in places like the ninth ward, which is so scary the drug dealers avoid it. Can they just let the ocean have it???

Eh, I was called insensitive today for expressing that.

I summon!

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2005-08-30 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
I summon the Iron Wenches! Ala Seximem!

Hope that helps, now I'm all hungry.
