Pity Party
Everything's done for Faire (whore-wise) except for the bodices. I'm waiting on boning. I hope I can get it in time.
Media Party was ok (it didn't rain--hurrah) and Site Day was tolerable. I'm worried that I haven't found the heart for Azucena yet. I now understand
rougewench's struggles to call forth The Madam every year. Last year I went into the situation as A Virgin and gradually developed into The Spanish. Now I know who she is, but I don't know where. If anyone sees her, please mention that I'm looking for her.
The Missing Check has been discovered. It was to Jeff's Curbside Recycling. Apparently he didn't see it taped to the lid of the recycle bin. Presumably it's buried in some pile of recycled office paper somewhere. It was only for $15, so not worth stopping payment on it. That's one thing off my mind at least.
I spent about an hour last night fiddling with options for the Middle Eastern Weekend costume(s). I'm not happy with either of the belt bases I cut out. One is going to be very tricksy and I don't have the time or energy right now. The other looks too jester-ish. Bleh. I Am Uninspired.
Thinking about Hurricane Katrina wiping out New Orleans is hitting me really hard. That trip (and hence the city) was magical for me. It makes me unreasonably sad to think that I might not get to see those buildings again. The whole thing is ridiculous. Think how much more upset the residents are...but still. I'm so very sad. Does anyone know if
green_tara76 cancelled her trip? Suxxor. Sorry, hon.
And, selfishly, I'm a mite concerned about how the hurricane is going to affect our own weather patterns. Honestly, my hip hasn't quite recovered from New York. I'm worried about getting around if we have too many wet days in a row here.
It doesn't matter that it's beautiful outside. I feel like I'm raining.

Hopefully somewhere in the first portion of Saturday.
I feel much the same way about the possible loss of one of my favorite places on the planet...

That would be fantastic! And maybe they'll share whatever it is they're drinking.

It's just usual (which I have not had this year) that I have had some promos ahead of time to play with that headspace a bit in advance. I have come to trust generally that she still fits like a well worn glove, and that there has just not yet been a need to summon her. I know that me wearing the rain hair was not helpful to me, in that I never really feel fully Madamesque without the huge hair.

But when I laced up my bodice for Media Party, and I had that whole black ensemble, plus gray/blue make-up instead of the browns, she literally pushed me aside to take her place. "This is mine now," was the new attitude. So maybe some of your current costume frustrations (like uncertainty about getting your boning on time and finishing up the bodice - which is really the peice that brings it all together - having to wear too-big bloomers, etc) are keeping her away.
Good luck. Call us if you want company at the party. ;)

Especially when it is soon followed by "I'm waiting on boning." Aren't we all, miss, aren't we all?
On a happy note...
Schweet.
Hang in there...I know that's about as canned of a phrase as one can muster, but it's been one of my mottos lately.

Eh, it can't be much worse than my boyfriend and I wondering just how much this means they'll get to 'start over' in places like the ninth ward, which is so scary the drug dealers avoid it. Can they just let the ocean have it???
Eh, I was called insensitive today for expressing that.
I summon!
Hope that helps, now I'm all hungry.
