Don't look up
Because, seriously. The sky is going to fall.
I actually got off my ass and did some sewing. Two chemises for the Olathe production of Fortinbras, and then a knitting needle case for me. The case rocks, I must say. I used a scrap of old upholstery fabric and by sheer luck it turned out large enough for a slot for every size of straight needle from 0 to 15 (even though I don't own a 0, 10.5, or 15, and I loaned my 11s to someone and never saw them again. But hey! Needle case!). It's gorgeous. I need to figure out a good way to make one for my circulars now since they're really hard to store in a box.
Little Elna is so happy now that she's all tuned up and shiny. Now I want to make some new PJs and some clothes based on...

Firefly
because I finally got around to watching some episodes over the long weekend. While I had no doubts about its magnificence, I was surprised to be so immediately caught up in it. Wow. Just wow. I'm in love. In love with a dead series. My life.
Anyway. Gonna start adding 1800s Western to my Midcentury Modern pattern hoard. OMG the vests! The coats! The pants! Although I will never in a million years look like Zoe in a pair of pants.
There was excitement in the kitchen on Christmas day when I forgot my roasting pan had recently done time as the water bath for my flan. I picked it up by the handles with no potholders and actually made it a few feet away from the stove before my lightning-fast reflexes registered "Wow HOT" and I threw it back on the range. Immediately to the sink for cold water and the rest of the day was spent holding ice packs. A couple days later and only one minor blister on my left hand, with the left index fingerpad still a little numb. Right hand is fine. What an idiot. Lucky idiot.
I spent a bit of time this morning looking through the collection of whore photos that
rougewench compiled for the brothel girls and I'm so ready to suit up again. Crazy. I very nearly cried from relief my first weekend off after faire this year. Here it is just over two months past and I'm itching to be out in the lanes with the girls again. This is the sort of thing that convinces women that pregnancy and labor weren't so bad and they really should go ahead and have that other kid, isn't it? Humans are strange.
After multiple failed attempts to get my hair cut I think I'm going to try to grow it out. We'll see how that goes. Because I've also forgotten what a right pain in the ass it is to grow out a haircut, too.
Oh, heads up: Looks like January 12 for the next Aladdin gig.

D.
Apropos Firefly....
I needed another addiction to soak up all that extra time ;) I think Firefly will be resurrected in some form. Can't stop the signal ;)
Firefly
I had the same reaction you did when I first watched it. I was totally blown away.

I just need to find someone who doesn't mind spending money at WalMart to find it for me in the $5 DVD bin.
Firefly. *sigh* Yah.

It's such a fun movie and some of the outfits are way cool.

If the Fox bastards had maybe given this show half a chance - aired it in the correct order and given it a full season to build an audience, we'd all be talking about this season's episodes and not the movie.

I figure I'll reach my breaking point round about February. If I make it til then, I'm good until, oh, about May, when it'll be jaw-length--NOT a good look on me.

I was a little dissappointed in Serenity though. I should probably watch it again. Without taking care of Ada at the same time.
Mmmm, clothes...
