I couldn't say it any better than gmskarka. I am at a loss for words. So I will simply direct you to his post here.

As I mentioned on danger_army, I don't want to flee a police state. And I wonder how many Americans will reverse their stance on illegal immigration when Canada closes the border?

Sadly, we're unlikely to close our borders as long as the current gov't is in power. Our Prime Minister appears to be more interested in duplicating American policy (e.g. restricting press access to military coffin arrivals from Afghanistan, upping our presence there, killing pot decriminalization, going for mandatory minimum sentences, etc.) than actually standing up for our sovereignty and national identity.

In short -- the neocons have invaded. Gods help us.

Call your senators and representative. So what if they're 'red state,' they need to know that we won't stand still for this.
