3rd Weekend
Wow, I'm beat.
We had surprisingly large audiences for nearly all our shows (the first shows of each morning were a little sparse, but that's fine since we kinda use those for a warm-up). Front gate wasn't awful, but OMG hot on Saturday. The best thing about being a stage act for one weekend is I get to catch a couple shows that I otherwise wouldn't be able to view. So I got to see a Tartanic show in its entirety, and I watched Chess Match from the audience standpoint. Both were fabulous!
I had great fun at the smoker. Sunday's smoker performance was vastly better since the weather was cooler and St. Louis did parade. Not doing parade makes such a huge difference in my energy level on a dancing day. Whew.
Best parts of the weekend: Hearing Tartanic repeatedly refer to the theme as "bellydance weekend"--not "Worldly Treasures" or whatever bullshit name du jour is on the ads for this year. Actually making tips at Smoker (woot!). Dancing with the fabulous Satowi & Co. at Smoker. Buying an absolutely drop-dead tribal-looking necklace from Jen C. Not totally sucking at my drumming premiere.
Worst part of the weekend: Sunday I lost one of my zills. Bummer. =( They were my favorite set. I've had them for twelve years. I hope hope hope someone finds it and turns it into lost and found. I'm going to hold off buying a new set until the end of the run in the hopes that it will turn up. In 2004, someone found a piece of jewelry I lost out at faire three weeks after I lost it. So there's hope. It's the Saroyan Pro in brass (first one pictured on this page).
Congratulations to
starstraf who wins the Speediest Photo Delivery award. She snapped this photo at our Saturday show. Thanks, Star!

P.S. For everyone who commented on the glorious yarn I used for my fringe belt, it was dyed (and spun?) by
bestill. Please consider buying your own to make yourself a fringe belt of your own!

And sure, I can pack a costume for the November party--just tell people to bring a few one dollar bills to make it worth my while *wink*
