Better. Mostly. And mostly just feeling foolish.
The headache is gone.
I would feel better, however, if I hadn't spent six hours (five last night and one this morning) looking for my most recent bodice pattern. The sewing room is more organized than it's been in a year. But here's where the story gets funny.
Bodice 2005 made an immediate appearance, right where it was supposed to be! Filed away in the box marked "Dance, Costuming, Bodices." Bodice 2006 not so much. I tore the place apart, even though I hadn't used the pattern last year (since I was busy making
nottygypsy's garb), so it wasn't likely that it had fallen behind anything or gotten tucked away.
Now. Process that last bit, shall we?
I had the pattern for 2005. Right there. But the current bodice pattern? Nowhere to be found.
Except.
I didn't make myself a new bodice last year. I didn't make myself a new bodice pattern last year. Last year being 2006.
Therefore: There Is No 2006 Bodice Pattern To Be Found Because One Doesn't Exist. The "current" pattern was there all along, right were it should be, filed away neatly and tidily because I am a good secretary and organized beyond belief. I'm just really, Really, REALLY oblivious sometimes. And maybe not so good with numbers and years.
And you know what makes the situation even better? I didn't even realize that 2005 was the current bodice pattern until I was walking up the hill to work today and had a little Road to Damascus experience.
I blame the headache.

And I had to laugh at your story- I pull stunts like that all the time.

Doesn't everyone? I think most people are just too shy to admit it. Me? I know I'm a colossal dork. It always astounds me when people think otherwise. I might appear graceful, together, or whatever, but I'm just floundering around with everybody else.

Heehee. I love you.
I spend hours looking for stuff because my patterns are in one large comic book box (where can we get more of those darn things?) marked:
Patterns
I want some of the smaller boxes so I can actually mark them in some semblance of order and stack them on a shelf. Or I might talk to you about how you do your file system, because I've now acquired enough patterns that I need more place to keep them. Yours is still safely on the sewing desk, so that I see it every day and say to myself "Self, you really need to trace that pattern so you can give it back to CR". And then I go on.
Who'd believe that I'm the same person who gets "Temp Employee of the Month" twice for re-doing/setting up entire file systems for a KUCR and an attorney's office? I'm such a total disorganized dork at home.

Is that the Vogue one?
Comic book boxes: I'm sure Astrokitty would be happy to sell you some. Although if you've got that many, you might consider converting over to my method of pattern filing. Come over sometime and I'll show you the basic idea.
Lots of people are organized at work, but not at home. Take for example those accountants who manage millions of dollars for their company, but can't keep from bouncing checks.
Myself, I get itchy and grumpy if things are out of order too long. My anal-retentiveness extends to all aspects of my life. Lucky me.
