Final Straw

Yesterday saw the end of the struggle with my doctor's office. I called to ask if I could get an appointment with anyone in the office other than Dr. McK. I explained that I didn't want to see her because the last three times I've seen her, I've had to come back within two weeks for the same ailment and I didn't feel I was getting good care from her. The receptionist said the soonest they could get me in with someone who wasn't Dr. McK would be...Friday. This is an office with five physicians and a physician's assistant! And they don't have any openings with anyone until Friday? Note: Dr. McK had an opening for today. What does that tell you?

I told the receptionist that I would stop by the office this week to pick up the form to transfer my records to a different practice. Under the recommendation of [livejournal.com profile] roya_spirit and a couple other folks on the [livejournal.com profile] lawrence_ks community, I switched my PCP to Dr. Burt at FirstMed. It takes effect May 1, so I have one week to survive this current nastiness.

I went to the Merc last night to pick up Olive Leaf Extract and Breathe Easy tea. I hope those will minimize my distress until next Tuesday.

The only thing that got me to the office today was a Hall Center seminar this afternoon that I very much want to attend. It's a panel on pre-1500s pop culture. Several of our department members are presenting. Should be fun.

Are they presenting papers, and is it possible to get a copy? I'd be very interested in getting a copy of some of them, Big Turkey Legs especially.

Yes, they're presenting papers. I don't know about getting copies, but I'll be happy to ask. If I can get a PDF copy, I'll email it to you.

That one would be really interesting!

    Nunsploitation Films?

    Nunsploitation Films?

Apparently, she's very excited about a clip she's using from one starring Elvis and Mary Tyler Moore called "Breaking the Habit" or something like that. I can't even find it in IMDB.

All the panels sound really fun.

“Popular Medievalism and ‘70s Nunsploitation Films”

Hopefully she'll be including Ken Russell's THE DEVILS! Ol' Ken had some serious nun issues.

and the elvis movie is "Change of Habit" :)

Change of Habit!!! That's the movie I meant. Yes, she *is* using Change of Habit.

Drat! I have to leave early today already. That panel sounds like a very good time.

Meet you somewhere? I don't know where the conference hall is...

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-04-24 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't, either. If you want, we can just meet at the main entrance of the Hall Center at, say, 3:20?

    [identity profile] tessagratton.livejournal.com 2007-04-24 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. Or we could meet in front of Malott if you're coming from your office.

That sounds really neat! Please post about it later?
