A WTF for the weekend

Sending you all off with a nervous laugh for the weekend:

I realize not all golfers are conservative country club whities, but still, the ad for the current Human Rights Campaign event in KCMO made me choke. This is particularly WTF-worthy coming on the heels of the recently re-broadcast This American Life episode on the black lawyer who went undercover at a New York country club. OK, so all you golfers out there may now call foul. I still think it's fucking hysterical.

What you don't have in your image here, but is in their image in teeny letters on their site is that it is the HRC's Women's Golf Tournament.

From what I've been able to observe, golfers are almost always rich, white, and conservative. Country clubs are not made of liberals.

I know one super cool (and hot) woman who golfs. And that's about it. Unsurprisingly, I doubt she'd have the $90 it costs to participate in the event.

But wait...Not all golfers are members of country clubs.
I know of at least three who are not rich, white nor conservative. But.. they also probably can't (or won't) afford country club fees.

Of course, now that I think about it, tha's not surprising that the only other golfer I know is my dad. and he ain't rich, harhar.
