Two out of three's not bad, I guess

I made it for two of the three faire days this weekend. Sunday night when I got home, my nose started bleeding from both nostrils and I felt pretty rotten. While in the shower, I noticed some hives on my sides, and my waist itched more than normal from just the snug bodice.

Monday morning, my eyes were bright red (but not swollen) and they hurt to blink. It was like the eye muscles were sore or something. Weird. I had hives on my scalp that ran down my neck and behind my ears. My nose was still bleeding a little, and my head was throbbing. I'm still a little itchy, even today, and the headache is back.

Oh, also, [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick took me out to lunch (there was no way I was going to cook something) and I was completely comfortable, even a little warm, in the restaurant. Which means I was also running a fever, since [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick said it was kinda cool in the place.

Wah!

So I didn't make it out for Monday's faire. Thank gods I did an Angel contract this year. If I'd had to go out yesterday, it would've been awful. I've got to figure out something to do about these allergies. It's getting ridiculous.

One thing I'm going to try is washing the bodices and mini-yak at the end of every weekend, instead of only doing it once or twice during the run. That might help with the hives. I'm not sure what to do about the vampire eyes and bleeding nose, though.

Omg, Monday was insane. By the end, Rachel and I were literally laughing hysterically and humping each other, we were SO DONE. (The latter wasn't until after cannon, of course. But.... omg. INSANITY. And I was abused. :( And I broke myself several times. I was very pouty.)

Dean Kinsey was dressed like a monk, and I really missed you when he blessed us in the street and took my confession. *sniff*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I missed you all, too. When I was awake...

I even had the peppermint tea all ready to go. Bleh.

I broke myself several times

The necklace is OK, I hope?

Dean Kinsey was dressed like a monk...and took my confession

I knew I'd miss something absolutely spectacular. Boo.

[identity profile] tessagratton.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The casualties were more black lace on my overskirt and my fan. :( Both necklaces are fine. Oh, do you have anything for polishing silver? My murderous angel brooch is getting some black spots, but it can't go in D's sonic thing because of the stones.

I think it's likely that Father Dean will be out again. ;) So all is well.

Also, I have some stuff for you from Notty. Didn't bring it today, because I didn't know if you'd be here. Tomorrow?

[identity profile] starwyse.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
My gods, L. I hope things even out for you...
You looked smashing Sunday even though I saw you only briefly and from afar.

S~

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be here tomorrow, yes, and I'll look around for my silver polish cloth. We can trade.

I'm not certain I'll last the whole day today.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I was feeling OK on Sunday. The aches and itchies didn't hit me until I got home. Thankfully.

[identity profile] tessagratton.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
>>We can trade.

It's a date!

[identity profile] harmfulguy.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Take care of yourself -- I think that the dust was spectacularly brutal this past weekend.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You know it's bad when performers would prefer a rainy weekend.

Tell me I didn't poison you!

[identity profile] renniemom.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope there was nothing in the baked goods you were allergic to...

You looked incredible Saturday. Take care of yourself and I hope to see you next weekend when we're out playing. (I don't have to work next weekend.)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! And no, you didn't poison me at all. I'm familiar enough with how I react to allergens, and none of my symptoms were from food allergies--all just environmental crap.

I'll look for you next weekend!

[identity profile] the-themiscyran.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry to hear about the allergies. Boo. Your new headband looked tres nifty, though. I compliment you on your gorgeous and comfortable solution to the yak. :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! The headband is a little more severe (and, as was pointed out, rather nun-like). Very Azucena-ish.

[identity profile] galactusprime.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad you appreciated him. I am certain he could be persuaded to come back from time to time. You may wish to schedule special confessional time with him in the near future. Otherwise he may just be out and about in striped tights. :)

[identity profile] tessagratton.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Those striped tights are utterly to die for. I have lust.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Confession or striped tights. Damn. Tough call.

How about confessions about thoughts entertained whilst gazing at striped tights?

[identity profile] galactusprime.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I am sure something can be worked out that way.

[identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
whoof,
that is a high level of nasty.
The dust on sunday had my eyes leaking and nose a running.

I hope your new docs can help you sort it out!

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
THAT is one wicked icon, my love.

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You were, of course, missed. But it is so much more important when one is that shagged out to simply take care of your health. Monday reached levels of bizarreness that you may not have wanted to have put up with, in a not less that ideal physical place.

Although there were a couple of patrons/performers that we really might have liked to flog.

Hard.

D.

[identity profile] pointoforigin.livejournal.com 2007-09-05 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Aghh! That sounds very distressing and I feel very concerned for you. I hope this will get better soon. I also feel I must warn you that on TV, having nosebleeds and having your eyes turn a funny color is usually a sign of either alien possession or impending breakout into vast psychic powers of Biblical proportions. So if you start levitating, please be careful, and you might also want to have a fire extinguisher handy. Just sayin'.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-05 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
vast psychic powers of Biblical proportions

Well, my knee started aching after the rain began this morning, so I think my ability to tell the future is still pretty...latent.

Allergies

[identity profile] niveus-tigris.livejournal.com 2007-09-05 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I start my day with a 10mg dose of Loratadine (generic Claritin from Wal-Mart) and will take a 25mg dose of Diphenhydramine HCL (Benadryl) at night if the day has been full of allergy suck...like this weekend was.

I gave up on all the meds my allergist had me on and figured out that what I really needed to do was change my diet. No artificial crap, very little soda, no corn syrup sweetened anything and as much natural (not processed) food as possible. That has done more to improve my health than anything else.

Be happy, healthy and whole.

Yale~

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey! That's exactly the combo I used for years! I just started a double dose of Astelin in my nose in the morning and two diphenhydramine at night. We'll see if the evening diphenhydramine helps this weekend.

I'm pretty strict about my diet, too--my family tends towards obesity. I'm slowly cutting out the high fructose corn syrup. That's the toughest one!

I drink a lot of diet soda during faire (probably two cans a day), which isn't so great, but the carbonation is the only thing that gets the gross out of the back of my throat. Yech!

[identity profile] chronovore.livejournal.com 2007-09-17 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got prescription Flonase, and it works like a freakin' charm. You might check with your doc if you've never tried it.

Hope you're feeling better by now.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-17 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried Flonase, and it didn't help any better or worse than Claritin, which was cheaper. I'm on a double-dose of Astelin now, and it seems to be working pretty well.

[identity profile] chronovore.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Huh.

I tried Claritin and it had NO effect on me, but Flonase is a little miracle which I squirt in my nose and keeps me breathing BETTER than normal, as well as eschewing the allergy symptoms - heaps better than religious "miracles." Except for that one nun's orgasm where she thought God was appearing to her. That one must have been pretty great.

Glad to hear you've a double-shot that works for you. Allergies suck.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
D'you mean The Ecstacy of St. Teresa (http://www.eyeconart.net/history/Baroque/italy_spain.htm)? That's possibly my favorite sculpture ever.

[identity profile] chronovore.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
THAT'S THE ONE.

The hussy. I bet God never even called her back.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno. She looks like a pretty good time.
