I usually don't like surprises

But in this case, I'll make an exception.

I would rather this storm have taken everyone by surprise, with none of the harrowing minute-by-minute lead up. It's driving me insane(er).

Everyone on campus is freaking the fuck out over the predicted ice storm. I understand that it could be dangerous and all, but Jesus people, get a grip. It might storm, it might not. Your wails and hand-wringing will make absolutely no difference.

So shut up about it already.

Christ.

Oooooh nooooes! What if I can't get to my final!

That's been the theme around here.

Is it as annoying in your office as it is in mine? Is it just me? Or is the general panic really that irritating, unnecessary and unhelpful?

I've been at home since about 1130 (Natalie passed out, silly girl. she's fine.) so I didn't get much of it, but it certainly felt like something that was building into serious annoy.

Eeek. Glad N's ok.

Students or staff that have to be there tomorrow? When I was a student, I don't remember it bothering me because as long as the buses were running, I was there. And if they weren't, things were canceled and rescheduled and I got extra studying time.

For me now, predicted is much less hand-wringing than the surprise storm.

This is because you are no longer surrounded by academics.

Lucky, lucky you.

I believe it just as much as I believe all the other EVERYBODY PANIC winter warnings we've gotten over the past decade. It is usually the forecasters deciding to be full of sound and fury, but ultimately signifying nothing.

Even the weathermen are subject to ratings...

Fo realz. Do you remember back when storms just happened, and we dealt with them? I even remember liking them because everything was very pretty afterward. I'm disappointed in this storm (in Olathe, anyway). So much hype, not much payoff. I hope people have calmed down for you by now!

Bah. Weather frights.

It's all a conspiracy to sell off excess fuel, salt, milk and shovels.

teehee.
