The early present

0 and I went out yesterday to buy my xmas present, even though it's still a couple weeks until The Big Day. The grocery store had some amazing meat sales and I got to restock after the Fridge Disaster of 2003 with minimal damage to the bank account. I was not going to spend hours wrapping up meat for the freezer, so, ta-da, early present time! And, since it involved the use of a new appliance, 0 was happy to help get the food ready for long term cold storage.

And a trip to Sam's on Saturday allowed me to restock the pantry with such necessities as diced tomatoes, cream of mushroom soup, and coffee. So if we get the 4 inches of snow that are predicted for this evening (ha), I'm all set for being snowbound until next week.

I love it. I wish I'd bought one years ago. If you buy stuff (especially meat) in bulk, this will make your life sooooo much easier. I didn't buy the one that has the space for the roll of bags and built-in cutter 'cos it was $50 more and I figure I own kitchen shears =) but if you have the money to blow, you might consider getting the one that's just a step up from mine. I also wanted something that took up less counter space, so I opted for the smaller model.
