Groundhog Day

As usual, the sun's coming up bright and cheerful on February 2 here in Lawrence. There are two near constants in my life:

1. There will be snow on the ground and most likely there will be snow in the air at some point on my birthday.

2. It is sunny on February 2.

In twenty years, there's only been one time that each of these has not been true for me. I think they might've even been the same year, but I'm not sure.

So here's to (at least) six more weeks of winter. Congratulations, everflame and all you other freaks winter-lovers out there.

I love winter, so count me amongst your fellow freak friends. Shivering is oh-so-much-better than sweating, in all but one case.

When I saw it was such a beautiful sunny day, I first thought how nice it was. Then I remembered the date. Damn! It is often sunny on February 2nd. I always say that February can be one of the worst weather months of the year. I will be right with you not loving the winter!
