Thwarted
Pretty much everything I've tried today hasn't worked as I hoped.
I woke up at 2-ish and then again at 4:30 a.m. from menstrual cramps. That was fun. I woke up for good around 6:30 a.m. and spent a couple hours trying to reach my ride to yoga to tell her I wasn't going to go. I never did reach her, and I didn't want her to wait for me in the Target parking lot, so I drove out there to meet her and tell her I wasn't going to go.
She seemed...irritated with me, which I didn't understand, but perhaps I misinterpreted.
So much for not having to go out in the cold.
But I did stop by Office Depot to purchase sheet protectors and they were on sale for about 2/3 off. So I bought three boxes of 100. I'm set for sheet protectors for a while.
I came home and took a two hour nap.
When I got up, I thought I'd better start swatching for the project I wanted to take to a knitting meet-up. It...didn't work. At all. The yarn, while beautiful and glorious and soft and wonderful is way too thick for the needle size and needed drape for the garment. The gauge swatch could have stood up on its own, and was short of the stitch number per inch by nearly two and a half. Dang. So much for that.
I figured I'd work on this felted hat pattern I borrowed from
fireguarder , but I don't have the right size needle. I tried swatching with one size up, but um no. Way off. Since I'm going to buy an interchangeable circular needle set, I didn't want to purchase the correct size circular. So much for that.
Half an hour before the meet-up was due to start, I rifled through my patterns to see if I had any needles that matched up with patterns. Oh, yeah. That vest I was doing? I hated the yarn. Frogged it. I bought the yarn for felting (see hat attempt, above) and it's going to stay for felting. I think it looks cheap and gross knitted up in a garment as is. Bleh. So no go on the vest.
Anyway, I was looking for something I might take to the meet-up and suffered another bout of cramps and exhaustion. I decided that I was in no shape to meet an new group of people--tired, vaguely cranky, and sans project--so I skipped the meet-up.
I haven't been able to do anything I'd hoped to do today, but I'm at least on laundry load number four. Go, me.
