Liberal Media, my white ass

[livejournal.com profile] poincaraux emailed a Salon.com article to me this morning: Tucker Carlson unintentionally reveals the role of the American press. It's a horrifying read that only reinforces what a lot of us have known all along. The average American journalist is a fucking tool.

Says British journalist Gerri Peev: "If this is the first time that candid remarks have been published about what one campaign team thinks of the other candidate, then I would argue that your journalists aren't doing a very good job of getting to the truth."

Pardon the pun, but news flash.

Bastards, all of them.

No surprises there.

It's too bad that political powers are not treated the same "no punches pulled" way as .. oh say.. Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan *g*

How very curious...I mean, I knew journalists were often (but of course not exclusively) ass-kissers, but this is amazing and horrifying - the whole "they won't talk to us unless we're nice to them" is bull, because if politicians want publicity, they have to use the press (or generate their own press establishment, which - I hope - wouldn't fly with the public; a bit too Nazi-ish, I think)...I agree with roya_spirit...and by the way, Bush's interview with the Irish reporter at the end of the article is both hilarious and mortifying, mostly just because all Bush has to do is open his mouth and his foot finds it very quickly...

From a year or two ago, this is also very enlightening (and hilarious and sad all at the same time):

It's really depressing that these people critique others like Jon Stewart on journalistic integrity, but ironically, he probably has more of integrity than most journalists in the nation today.

*sigh*

And thanks for the link. Yeah, if I want "real" news nowadays I tend to go to the BBC or to print... or Comedy Central.

Oh, and I meant to add to that, but lost it while searching for the video.

...anyway, wtf? Firing an aide because she said "monster"? The word doesn't even get kindergarteners in trouble, but the American people are apparently so naive that we don't realize that maybe, just maybe, there's a little emotion on opposing sides of a campaign?

While I agree that the American press merits some changes, the issue around which this started is a non-story. Obama's advisor should keep her job, and no one cares.

Speaking of the BBC (http://polidics.com/cia/top-ranking-cia-operatives-admit-al-qaeda-is-a-complete-fabrication.html), we can safely doubt that this video will get aired on prime time.
