Amend that to "Frailty, thy name is Chernobyl Red"

For the love of gods, people.

Last night [livejournal.com profile] adammaker came over for dinner and I mentioned to him how when I was taking out the trash earlier in the evening, my right hip just went out and I almost fell down in the back yard. I laughed a bit about how I'm too young for this sort of thing to be happening and I hoped it was just the weird weather and blah blah.

Well, this morning I nearly couldn't get out of bed from the pain and even now the joint feels hot and achey. The sensation of uncomfortable warmth is new, and hence worrisome. My hip joints often ache after a day out at faire, or walking 20+ miles on concrete sidewalks during vacations, but not like this--after a day of fairly easy exercise and self-pampering thanks to That Time Of The Month.

So instead of exercise this morning (in retrospect I should not have posted my exercise goals until I had successfully reached them for a full week), I went to the grocery store and limped around, letting the cart bear a lot of my weight. I will exercise tonight (when I usually go to the grocery store) after my joints are loosened up from the warm walk home and maybe a mixed drink or two (perhaps the stationary bike instead of the ski machine tonight).

In the meantime: Ow.

Oh crap. Poor darling.
I hope it's a very very very temporary thing.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Me.

Too.

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, ow! ow! ow!

I hope it feels better soon.

D.

Thanks.

Have you tried any ice or a cold pack on it? Heat seems to suggest inflammation, and when my hip joints go, the cold packs almost always seem to help...or alternating ice and heat, starting with heat and ending with ice might be good, too...

Yuck - I do hope this is temporary and you are feeling better soon!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall try that tonight if the pain hasn't subsided. Thank you for the idea.

I hate cold packs, but at least it's summer and shouldn't be so bone-achingly miserable to put ice on.

:( *sympathy*

My hips will occasionaly decide they don't like me much, but nothing quite like that. Don't panic or anything, but do you think you might want to talk to a doctor about that?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I've had hip joint pain in some measure since high school, so I'm sort of used to it. Just not like this. I might talk to the New Shiny Chiropractor about it next week, though.

[identity profile] bestill.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry your hip is being poopie. I hope the pain goes away as fast as it came! If it doesn't, we could keep each other company, lying around on couches, unable to get up . . . .

[identity profile] bestill.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's more than dumb--it's a scurvy bastard.

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope it goes away soon. Speaking from experience, it isn't pleasant to have to deal with that long term.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm finding more and more that misery doesn't love company. =(

[identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hope you feel better soonest!

And thanks again for the lovely time last night!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks and you're welcome!

My profound sympathies.
fish oil tablets.
I have found them to be invaluable for dealing with inflammation, particularly in the long term.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. This is suxxor.

I already take fish oil and glucosamine. I wonder if I need to look into something else, in addition.

I am also beginning to wonder if this increased joint inflammation is a result of my body starting to react to the new allergy treatment. Maybe? *shrug*

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That sucks, boo for hip pain, boo I say!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
And boo for feeling like a total pansy-ass by failing on my exercise goals already!

*sigh*

[identity profile] kalimeg.livejournal.com 2008-07-03 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you fallen lately? I put a hip out that way, and ever afterward I have had to struggle with keeping the thing in place. First it was a great chiropracter, but when he moved I have managed to keep the hip pain under control with a Panasonic Accu-Tap.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, no falls. I've had minor issues with this hip for a long time. Gonna talk to my chiro about it on Wednesday.

::hugs::

I am well familiar with body goals gone astray due to out of the blue body suxxorness (f'ing back of mine). I have no excuse for eating WAY too many chips with salsa today other than it's my period.

::hugs::

I think I'd rather have this hip pain than back pain. Ouchie. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Are you going to see a doctor about it?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It's my "problem hip" that I've dealt with for years, so probably not. I might mention it to my new chiropractor on Wednesday, though. 'Cos it's still kind of twingy, even four days later.

[identity profile] amjhawk.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no!

I didn't see this until now - hope you're doing better by this point, that "twingy" isn't too horrible.

And we'll see the hopefully normal and healthy you on Thursday! We're both really looking forward to it, and should be in touch very soon re: more concrete plans for the weekend.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I look forward to seeing you both!
