This would've been a great morning to sleep in

Thank you, Mr. Thunder, for waking me earlier than I needed to get up this morning. That was great.

This, however, really is awesome.

Be sure to listen to the commentary.

Regarding Faire: A layer of Lip Ink eyeliner traced over with Temptu tattoo paint and powdered well between layers stayed on well. Of course I didn't sweat much yesterday, so that might have as much to do with it as anything. The blue stripe costume will not make a reappearance. It doesn't hold tips well at all and I was dropping bills all over Smoker. Not good. Saturday's crowds were ridiculously large and boisterous, considering it was rainy. Sunday's crowds were sparse and low energy, despite glorious weather. WTF. Smoker is going super well. I'm enjoying myself so much! I said it before, but it's still wonderful to be dancing out there again, and this is the perfect venue for me. Thanks so much to the Lord Mayor's Company for organizing and running the show.

Discovery: I'm slightly allergic to spirit gum (anyone surprised?), which means my bindi leaves a red bump on my forehead for a couple days after the weekend. I put cortisone cream on it this morning--will see if that helps.

I was all excited when I first started reading Zenhabits. But for the past few months, it's been the same information, reposted in a slightly different format, or posts by guest authors. Seems to me if the blog author is so busy with other tasks and responsibilities, he should consider going to a weekly format instead of daily posting the same old stuff. It's not bad stuff, it's just the same stuff. Boo. Disappointing. I guess removing an RSS feed is one way to simplify, eh?

This weekend I've got a bunch of stuff I must get done, both costuming (repairs, finishing touches) and general house maintenance. The sewing room is a disaster and let's not even discuss the state of the bedroom. Ugh. Sheets will get themselves laundered tonight.

Aaaaaaand I just remembered something I was supposed to bring to campus today. Damn. Perhaps I'll have the energy to go get it at lunch...Dang. looks guiltily in [livejournal.com profile] cedarsong's direction

UPDATE: Oooo! I just got an email from someone with a photo. I ran into these girls at ConQuest this year--not positive they're a couple, but I think so. I was just all over the boi-ish little elf girl and made a complete fool of myself cooing at her. Then I saw them at Faire this weekend and YAY! got to do it all over again! What fun!

Isn't she adorable?

Everyone must have stuck around late Saturday afternoon for Smoker, as the overall crowd seemed very thin to me. I left around 3:30 during a break in the rain. (But I did pick up a nice Musketeers hat from Crimson Chain, so they can thank the rain for that. :)

Oh, the squirrel. I am so glad I watched that. The belly-crawl! Talk about a dare. "Hey, Pete, I dare you to run out on that weird grassy thing the monkeys are all screaming at. do it! DOOO IT!"

And when the commentator said, "Aw, he's not hurting anybody!" I about died.

I know! The commentary really makes it.

I figured there were a lot of us who needed something like this today. Ugh. Total hit-by-Mack-Truck day.

I kinow your skin is really sensitive, but I use a tiny bit of nail glue to asttach my bendi. It stays really well, and the bendi can be used again. Josh used to wear elf ears as a part of Elven Drums and the spirit gum made his ears raw so we started using medical adhesive instead.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
There's no way I'm using nail glue on my face. The medical adhesive might be something to look into, though. Can I buy this at a pharmacy?

[identity profile] sablessam.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I' pretty sure you can -t should be with the wound care stuff. And the nail glue went on after the layers of foundation and powder so it technically wasn't on my skin.

ZOMG is he so cute! Especially the belly crawl thing. Dying here!

Oh, I dunno. I think this was a win-win situation. =D

Use eyelash glue instead of spirit gum. Works better, does not hurt to pull off, no nasty aromatics.

Strippers use it for pasties.

:)

I'm gonna second that - EYELASH GLUE - it's what I use for all my bindi's, save the super large ones that are too heavy from overly large glass bits.

I like the opaque kind (dries clear-ish) that comes in a tube (can't remember the brand and I'm in New Mexico...) - the clear kind that comes in a vial doesn't stick to my skin, burns and smells awful.
And it's runny.

Maybelline. :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I know exactly the kind you mean. I know they sell it at Walgreen's. Thanks, hon!

Yay! Eyelash glue! Excellent. I'll pick some up tonight. Thank you.

great pic!

not sure I like the neck tattoo...looks too much like a scar to me.
But that headpiece,.. and that pic... *dies*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I've gotten about a zillion compliments on the neck tattoo. Perhaps it looks better in person.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Pay no mind to me, perhaps it's just a personal preference that your neck remain sleek and unmarked ;)
Nah, really, it's just that the lil x's remind me of those cartoon marks for surgical scars.
