Happy Fall Equinox

It's all downhill from here, people. Except for you weirdo winter-lovers. Freaks, all of ya.

I just got an email about a PBS poll. Usually those turn out to be ancient or fake, but this one's legitamate. Check it out: PBS has a poll that asks: Is Sarah Palin qualified to be VP? The Right is having masses of people vote that Palin is qualified. Let's turn this around. You don't have to give your name or email address in order to vote. It's very simple. Just CLICK and VOTE.

This weekend was exhausting, but good. The Buddies promo was fantastic! I'd definitely do that one again next year. Apparently I am a magnet for older, black, gay men. And I'm talking brazen and ripped, shirtless-dancing older, black, gay men. It was awesome.

Faire was packed with patrons. It was almost like a last-weekend crowd when the weather is beautiful. If we have a last weekend with beautiful weather this year we are gonna be in trouble. Oof. Only three more weekends, people.

I think I might have broken the 140 lb barrier, but I'm waiting to see it three times before calling it official. I'm having a difficult time keeping on body fat. Normally this would be great news, but I had to use [livejournal.com profile] nottygypsy's arm warmers on Saturday to fill my bra cups. There was just enough gape to be worrisome. I'm walking a strange line of maintaining my healthy eating habits while still getting in enough calories to keep from losing weight. I've started eating ice cream a couple times a week, and allowing myself chocolates on the weekends. My biggest problem will be not continuing those indulgences as frequently once faire is over. I'm a creature of habit.

I said to somebody this weekend "that's getting blogged," but now I don't remember what it was. Or even to whom I said it. I don't remember my alarm going off this morning, and I woke up at 7:30. Barely made it to work on time. I'm still a little disoriented.

October 16 and 17 are KU's Fall Break. I'm considering taking the days off. I'm taking a vacation day for Columbus day, too, since it's the last day of KCRF. That sucks, btw, having Columbus Day be the last day. Talk about leaving a bad taste in your mouth. Bleh. But anyway, I'm already taking off that Monday. I might just take the whole rest of the week off, or perhaps come in for half days on Tuesday or Wednesday. Pondering. Sleeping in and getting the house cleaned sounds so good.

So maybe you could auction off those arm warmers at the last smoker :) :) :)

LOL!

I don't know that I want the average Smoker patron to know I have to stuff my bra these days. It's a professional pride thing. *g*

Was yesterday's dance costume new? I REALLY like that skirt/belt (and I think pants under) combo? It was very effective in the audience!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I made a very similar costume for my one Smoker appearance last year, but of course it doesn't fit anymore. I had plenty of the fabric left, so I re-created a similar bra and belt, and kept the pants and panel skirt.

Thank you! I love those colors.

Sweet gods, that sounds like a brilliant idea.

We should all take the week off together. Solidarity!

I voted and it's scary that 52% still say she's qualified ! As my friend A4 said the other day, "it's not ability, it's fuckability". And yes, maybe that's sexist and awful, but damn, show me what she has that will convince me she can head a country?

140? (DAmn, girlfriend, that's what I weigh, congrats!).
Silly boobs, they are so fickle, first they hang around, then they disappear just when you want them around.

On the other hand, there's a component of my sociologist training that sez "Well, they asked if she's QUALIFIED; yes, she's an American Citizen over the age of 35 who's lived here her entire life, so technically, she meets the qualifications."

So all aside from the fact that it's a madly skewed poll to begin with, it asks a different question than we want it to answer. I'm not going to get worked up about it being at 51% of (some number they won't give out).

There is a difference between meeting requirements and being qualified. Big big big difference.

For a lot of people, I don't think there is.

Voted. 52% percent? Ugh. On a PBS poll no less...

I don't know if it's the big difference, but it's most certainly a major influence. Cutting out wheat means no pizza, no burgers, no cookies, no pastries, no pasta. I'm not a person who bothers to find substitutes for foods. I'd rather just mark it off the list and eat something else. So there's a lot of filler carbs that I just don't bother with anymore.

I'm also crazily active on the weekends during the run of our Renaissance Festival. I walk all over the place, I put in some very high energy performances (even though they're short, they're pretty damn demanding) and I eat very little for two of seven days a week. That's a huge factor. I'm not even exercising regularly right now--I just don't have the energy.

Oh, and I'm eating waaaay less sodium (thanks in part to eliminating processed foods and soda) so I'm rarely carrying around any extra water weight.

Perhaps you need to drink more to keep those boobies their desired size. Empty calories and all that.

Too bad about that cute car. I have a not-so-cute-probably-in-worse-shape-ford-taurus I'll sell you. Well, I wouldn't feel right selling it to you since it's a big-ol-piece-of-shit.

Notice my wanton use of hyphens. I'm all crazy right now with a clogged up head and medication.

I haven't seen you in so long, I wonder if I'll recognize you, with little boobies and all.

If I drink more, alcohol will make up more than 25% of my daily calories. =D

And yes I miss you!!! Of course you'll recognize me. There's no weight loss program in the world gonna touch my glorious SCHNOZZ!

So how did your eyelash glue work?

It works on days when I don't sweat too much. I sweated it off after the gig at Buddies. It fell off in the parking lot. Luckily, I had people with good eyes who found it (twice!) on the pavement.
