Fast week

Wow. This week kinda zoomed by.

Sore throat = still here. It's much worse during the night (I woke up again from it hurting) and in the morning. That shores up the allergy diagnosis since it's likely that the irritation is caused by post-nasal drip. Yum! Still no headache (beyond a typical allergy throb) and no fever or body aches. So yeah, probably allergies. I'm going to make another NMT appointment with Dr. Adams for next week.

Which, it turns out, might not be so much of a vacation week after all. Many faculty members, GTAs, and lecturers failed to submit their course descriptions on time (looks at [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick). So instead of compiling them today, I'll be spending time doing that next week as they filter in. My revised plan is to work half days Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, then take all of Thursday and Friday off. No matter what, I'm taking a full vacation day on Friday--course descriptions be damned--because I haz awsum planz, peepuls. Aw yeah. It's going to be a total day of indulgence. Mmmmmm.....

...wow, I got completely distracted there, no lie.

So, it's the last weekend for KCRF and I can't believe we're looking at a possible high of 80 on Saturday. We can (I suppose) agree to disagree on the causes of climate change. But anyone who is still saying it's not happening? Come on over here--within slapping distance, please.

Last night I had dinner with a faculty member couple (both of whom have turned in their course descriptions, thank you very much). M. is a wonderful cook and B. makes some really strong martinis, let me tell you--not frou-frou martinis, either. These were straight up gin and vermouth (with a couple bleu cheese-stuffed olives--mmmm). It's a good thing they didn't mind me staying to chat for two hours after we finished dinner, because that with the wine at dinner? Damn. Woo! M. cooked the vegetables on one of these and I think I need one now. I like vegetables okay, but this thing turned zucchini into something absolutely delightful. I wonder if Bay Leaf carries them.

Regarding the grill: I bought one for my sister at Target. Not that I don't love Bay Leaf, but everything in there is overpriced.

What was the price difference, do you remember? If it's under $10, I don't mind giving the money to the locally-owned place. Under $15, I have to think about it, and under $20 ... well, I sometimes wind up not buying the damn thing at all. =b

The one that I bought for my sister was $29.99, but that was a few years ago. There is something at Target that I need to get this weekend. I can look and see if they still have it and what the price is.

You might check at Ernst & Sons too, they have lots o' cast ironware in the window!
ETA: Or even downstairs at Weavers.

You're right! I love that place and haven't had a reason to go in there for ages. Thanks.

The forecast makes my ass twitch.

For serious.

...wow. And now I'm distracted again.

Wow! M = a great teacher AND a great cook. :D

Martinis sound SO GOOD.

M = a great teacher AND a great cook

Is anyone really surprised? No. Oh, and pretty. Let's not forget pretty. Smart, pretty, and a good cook.

I tell you, that martini knocked me on my ass. Next time I'm going to vote for drinks after we eat.

That's a trifecta of awesome right there.

Would this be M C-S?

She is a great teacher. However, I was part of the "peanut gallery" - aka, another student and I seemed to be like the old heckling duo from the Muppet Show. I forget their names...

But it was intelligent heckling, and we were the main impetus behind class dialogues.

Tell her I say hello. :)

we have one of those and Pooch LOVES it - it is what he uses for steaks and all sorts of other stuff - I know bed bath beyond carries, and I think ace hardware does - my guess is that the hardware place on mass street downtown would carry cause I know they have lots of lodge stuff

If it's close to 80 but anything like today out there, it will be wonderful. It's gorgeous out!

Wait. You didn't actually give a deadline to academics and expect them to keep it, did you? Because they won't.

Obviously you give them a fake deadline, then graciously extend it! It's the only thing that works!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, I'm not the person who sets the deadline. I'm just the person who suffers for it.
