Restless
I haven't seen much about the Oscar fashions, but perhaps I'm running in the wrong circles for that these days. I skimmed some online galleries and found two that made me think I'd wear that:

Everyone's saying Beyoncé looked like a curtain, but the shape of this dress is stunning and fits her well. If it had been red instead of the weird black and gold print, people would've been raving. Apparently it's from her mother's design line (her mother has a design line?), so I guess she couldn't really say no to it. As far as the basic silhouette goes, I love it. I love the neckline, I love the fit, and I love that she's not a freaking beanpole in it.

Speaking of beanpoles...Marisa Tomei could stand to eat a sammich perhaps, but her dress is nothing short of ethereal. It's the best of all possible worlds: a 1950s glamor design aesthetic coupled with miles of exquisite pleats. I would wear this in a heartbeat. Even if it is white. People are gonna copy this for their wedding gown this year, or at least they should. It's a masterpiece, in my opinion.
I am so very happy that people are finally past that wretched slip-dress phase. Hurray for actual fashion design.
Back to Actual Life: I had an NMT session with Dr. Adams on Monday. My nose has been dripping for about a week, and on Friday I started breaking out in hives. My nose is still dripping a bit, but it certainly helped the hives, which are nearly gone today.
We watched Ironman last night. It was really good. No, I hadn't seen it yet. Wanted to. Wanted to see it in the theater, but it just didn't happen. I can see why everyone was so disappointed about Terrence Howard not getting his part for the sequel.
I very much need to get back in exercise mode. I've got to figure out a way to get more than five or six hours of sleep a night. This is killing me. Ugh. Last night I laid down to sleep and just lay there for over two hours. I tried deep breathing, different positions, singing mantras in my head--nothing. I should've gotten up, but I kept thinking "surely I'll fall asleep any minute now." How can I be so tired and still unable to fall asleep? It sucks. Mornings aren't much fun after that, let me tell you.

After the Fashion
PS - Marisa's dress is sort-of silver when you see it up close. But the pleating is gorgeous!

I'm right there with you on the sleep thing. Can NOT WAIT to be done with the legion and get to bed at a decent hour.

Me, I was kind of disheartened to see that everything was off strapless/off the shoulder. After my recent experience with the bridesmaid dress thing, I am very, very down on that style at this point personally.
I'm really sorry I missed Beyonce in that dress. That is fabulous.
D.

I have a serious thing for a good-shouldered guy in a wifebeater.
Or good-shouldered guys pulling open their shirt (http://blog.cleveland.com/ent_impact_movies/2008/04/iron1.jpg) (linked because of enormous photo size).
Also facial hair.

guh
Totally yummy, and an excellent characterization.
After I first saw the movie (at the drive-in! best viewing ever!), I heard somebody say this...
Memo to Bruce Wayne: Billionaire Playboy? UR doin' it WRONG!
Re: guh
Edit: I mean, with someone female? Who wasn't a sidekick?

Have I ever mentioned that one of my favorite summertime things to do is watch T. swim? Because of the water rolling off the shoulders...among other things...
Ok, I'm going to clean the drool off my keyboard now.

It was certainly cast well.

This is the man who admits to occasionally eating ketchup on steak. He obviously has a few issues with some things.

House of Deréon is the label. I went ga-ga over the boots they had on eBay this past winter's sale. But I resisted.
did you see the pic of Amy Adams' necklace? (http://www.shoppingblog.com/cgi-bin/sblog.pl?sblog=224094)

I liked it on the telly from a distance, but up close, ugh.
