Back

I did something to my back during the night. It hurts. Really bad. Coincidentally, I had a chiropractor appointment this morning for a booster allergy treatment and she worked on my back a little. It hurt so bad while she was doing that, I started laughing on the table until my eye makeup ran.

Yes, there is a level of pain--right before I cry for real--where I laugh. My mom does it too. It's weird, yes. Moving on.

Back pain is something I've only experienced before once in my life, so this is all new and exciting. I feel like I have crazy-bad menstrual cramps. Only instead of in my uterus, they're from my hips to where my thoracic spine starts. It's a hot, stabby pain that doesn't let up. There's no waves of pain. It's constant.

The only reason I'm at work is that today is our second-round graduate application deadline is today. Walking up the hill was not fun. It took me nearly twenty-five minutes and I looked liked a little old lady, all hunched over and taking teeny-tiny steps.

I am truly so very sorry that you are getting to experience this. Is there any way that you can get to a medical doctor? This would be the sort of thing that a straight up muscle relaxant would help. Flexaril/skelaxin may make you loopy, but it will allow you to stand/stop the muscle spasm(s).

All the empathy in the world, sincerely.

Ow ow ow I'm sorry it hurts. There is nothing as painful as a back problem. I hope you get well soon.

Ugh

I am in this boat with you, last night for some reason my cyatic nerve started shooting with pain. Straignt down my back, through my butt and into my leg.

I think you missed your "typical life" tag on this post.

Ick. I hope this is super temporary. I have no wisdom, just loads of empathy. By the cup-full.

Amended. Thank you.

My empathy, too, is deep.

We should drink.

I am totally drinking the SHIT out of my remaining Root:1 stock when I get home.

Good thing you socked a bottle away at our place!

Srsly.

Oh dear!

I have been through back pain from hell, and empathize!

I highly recommend trying cold packs, rather than hot. It is a cheap non-drug related thing to try!

that is mighty sucky,
I hope you feel better soonest!

Bradley Denton, also known as Bland Lemon Denton, wrote a book called Laughing Boy. its about a guy that is caught up in the middle of a terrorist hit and is seen laughing amoungst the carnage of the attack. Any thing that is bad causes him to laugh. (he even laughs when he gets cut by a person) its a great book....

I read Laughin' Boy, yep. I told Mr. Denton that it was one of the most difficult books I'd ever read. Talk about an emotionally tough read...

Oh I am so sorry for your ow! I wish you all kinds of over it soon!

Feel better soon!

Back pain like that happened to me only once. I was working at Faire (with [livejournal.com profile] shrijani when I woke up one Saturday morning and could not move!! I think I stayed home that day, and it did get better the next. I went to Watkins (the closest I could get to a real doctor) and he told me to stop slinging my backpack over one shoulder. I did and the pain hasn't come back. Not saying that yours is something that simple, but I hope it is.

I have that same thing, where I laugh before I cry... I do't understand why, but I do it.

But ouch!! Back pain is no fun at all!!! I hope you feel better soon!!

I have that same thing, where I laugh before I cry

I think it must be at least partially physiological.

I am sorry your back is not behaving! Let me know if I can get you anything. Coming from a person with chronic pain, I know how suck-a-licious it is. Well, suck-a-licious sounds kinda fun, but it wasn't meant that way.
