Shed

I must make new bodices for KCRF this year. As of Monday morning I was one pound heavier than I was at the end of the run last year, and my bodices had to be straight-laced on the few weekends I was whoring in 2008. So yeah.

This means I'm selling my old bodices. If you or anyone you know is in the market for one, let me know. At the time I drafted the pattern for those, my measurements were 36-30-40. Laid flat(ish) and closed at the back, the bodice measures 27" at the waist. The most troublesome issue is the length. I'm long-waisted, so the front line of the bodice (not including the peplum) is 14.5". They're gorgeous, if I say so myself, and I know at least one of the fabrics is no longer being manufactured. After checking the going rates for most of the RTW-bought bodices that have been approved by management at faire, I think it's appropriate to ask for $70 each. I've asked [livejournal.com profile] grnvixen to pass the information to management at faire, so if you think you're interested, contact me soon--before they do.

I also have old belly dance costumes that I'm willing to sell for cheap-cheap-cheap.

Yesterday, while cleaning the sewing room, I came across more things I need to shed. If you're interested in any of this, please comment and we can arrange for pick-up. I'm also willing to ship if you paypal me money for postage.

1. Incense from Astral Sea. Non-sweet, non-fruity flavors like sandalwood, copal, cinnamon, etc. I love this stuff, and there's a lot of it, but [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick is allergic.

2. Wall-mountable incense holder that [livejournal.com profile] starstraf gave me. Works for either stick or cone incense. Black metal with gold tone accents that looks fab in a Middle-Eastern or otherwise ethnically-themed room.

3. Tarot card decks: Albano-Waite, Thoth, and the colored-pencil one of the Rider-Waite whose name I can't remember, but which I think is the prettiest of the Rider-Waite clones.

4. Two silver-plated candlesticks for tapers. Gorgeous, simple, and desperately in need of a shine, although they look pretty awesome all tarnished up.

5. Four one- to one-and-a-half inch crystal balls and three double-ended crystals, one of them naturally double-ended (the other two are obviously carved and polished).

6. Two 3-inch tall bisque dolls that belonged to a long-time friend of my grandma. They're called "Nodders" even though they don't actually nod. One of them has a broken head, but the break is clean and could be glued.

I still have about a zillion sewing patterns for anyone who wants to browse them. I'd prefer they be used by people who plan to sew with them rather than use them for collage. Especially the vintage ones.

I found some more knitting needle cases. If you need need storage for your knitting needles, I am your girl. $35 for circular cases, $25 for straight cases. I am willing to negotiate pricing if you buy more than one.

Please for the love of god help me get this stuff out of our house.

Silver candle sticks! Me!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They're yours. You'll love them.

I'm a magpie for pretty stones so I'm interested in the crystals.

I'm also curious to look at a full tarot deck (never seen one, people are usually not willing to let me dig through theirs and new decks are more than I want to pay for). I have no preference which one. I'll never use it for mystical purposes, just research and possibly card games.

I have paypal.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome. I love the pretty stones, too. I just don't care to make the shelf-space for them anymore. I'm keeping one of the balls (I had five--five!--just silly). I'm happy that these will go to a fellow magpie.

People are interestingly touchy about their Tarot cards. I bought them because I love the pictures and colors. But I never take them out to look at them any more. Would you prefer soft and delicate colors or bright and almost garish on the Tarot deck?

Email or private message me with your address and I'll get them sent off to you. Probably the smallest flat-rate box will be the best option, since the crystals are kind of heavy.

I love the look and feel of pretty stones. Labradorite is my biggest weakness. I have a really hard time passing up a good piece of polished labradorite.

Bright and garish is more likely to suit me. I've learned not to touch other people's tarot decks without permission. Not doing that risks getting my fingers slapped.

I'll send you my address tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm at work now. Thanks.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll send you the Albano-Waite, then.

I might throw in a couple other things that would please a magpie, too.

Woo! Thanks. :)

I LOVE labradorite, and I approve of your taste.

Sent via email. Let me know how much postage is and where to send the money.

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
We totally dig on the Astral Sea incense and use a lot of it at The Firm, so I'd be happy to take care of all of that for you.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yours! I envy your ability to use it. Shall I mail it to you or will you be in town for a haircut soon?

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately you're one day late with regards to a haircut (as we were there just last night). Our next isn't until July 15th. Assuming you are not interested in holding it until then, mail will probably be the way to go. If you can figure out how much it will take to ship it, let me know and I can Paypal you (assuming your gmail is the appropriate email address).

One round needle case please.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'll have them for you to browse when you visit on the 20th.

[identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Great!

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Incense holder! Good thing I came here this morning.

I sooo wish I could fit your bodices. *sigh*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It's yours. It probably always was yours, just took some time to get to you.

Hey, I'm still willing to sell that Victorian corset you tried on, if you still want it.
Edited 2009-06-04 15:15 (UTC)

Thank you!~

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)

I'd need to try it on.. my body shape is changing again.
(This is really getting old, this getting older)

Plus I'd really need your critical eye to tell me if it looks right or not.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
We can arrange a try-on sometime. Whenever!

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I have some EXTREME interest in your bodices. You're quite a bit taller than I am, but I'm freakishly long-waisted, which is usually a problem.

Also: sewing patterns are PORN, and I want some.

So now I guess I need to find a time to scoot to Lawrence?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, definitely. I'll have [livejournal.com profile] grnvixen hold the bodices until you have a chance to try them on.

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
What does your Sunday afternoon look like? I'm getting [livejournal.com profile] princessboredom to the airport for a 2:45 p.m. flight, but then I'll have some time. Unless they're already with [livejournal.com profile] grnvixen?

I will probably not want the Victorian corset. :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
They're already with [livejournal.com profile] grnvixen, so I'll have to get them from her. That might not be possible until next weekend, so don't book any trips to Lawrence, yet. Unless you and [livejournal.com profile] grnvixen know each other, in which case you could just contact her, maybe?

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I attended an SCA workshop [livejournal.com profile] grnvixen did once, at a costuming symposium. I think she knows [livejournal.com profile] diermuid, so we probably know people who know people in common. :)

I'll ping her separately. Budget and reason will limit me to purchasing just one or two, but what a great treat it'd be if I found one or two that would suit me! Thanks.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
There are only two. If they fit and you buy both, I'll definitely cut you a deal.

[identity profile] sherwood21.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Beat me to it!! If you only get one, I'd definitely be interested in the other!

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Gotcha. :)

[identity profile] grnvixen.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, please ping: ljusername at yahoo dot com.

Haven't heard anything from faire, was going to take pics and send but will wait now.

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I just sent you an LJ message, but will ping you on Yahoo as well. Thank you!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_luaineach/ 2009-06-04 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Nodders please! I love things that are sentimentally old, so would like them as much for having belonged to a friend of your grandma's as for their own inherent coolness. My house decor is a bit of Ancestral Antique, as far as decoration. :) I have the candy box (minus the candy) my grandfather gave my grandmother on their first date ... 90 years ago! It's made of wood!

And, oh, patterns. If I was there I would SO browse. I'm always browsing the patterns at thrift stores. If you have any I would like, throw them in and surprise me, too! :)

Oh and I'll take an old belly dance costume, too! Just pick one you think I'll like and tell me a price.

AND, unrelated: I've been way behind on doing my Traveling Art Book pages but started them last night and will finish them up today and then get it in the mail to you in the next few days!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Good heavens! Thank you for taking half of my stuff.

I'll get this boxed up for you. I don't have any green costume stuff, but I do have some earth toned items you might like. I'll email you photos and prices and you can tell me what you think.

Interested in bellydance stuff too...

[identity profile] michellcat.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Esp anything blue, teal, turquoise, or black. Send pics of anything not already spoken for!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a blue/green/black vest and belt combo that would look smashing with your coloring. It's this one:

Image (http://www.flickr.com/photos/23686442@N03/3236163699/)

I was asking $75 for it (there's over 50 shisha mirrors on the thing), but we can work something out. I'm willing to barter for half the value. Let's talk!

I'm very interested in:

[identity profile] michellcat.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
The sewing patterns, (all of them,) the corsets, and one of the straight knitting needle cases. I don't know what all that comes to, but I seriously need patterns. I'm becoming a real professional costumer/seamstress and I will really use the vintage patterns, cross my heart!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll LJ-message you my contact info and we can arrange a time for you to come pick up the patterns and look at the needle cases. Buy a needle case and I'll happily give you every single one of the patterns. =D

I know for a fact the bodices aren't going to fit, though. They'd be just monstrously long on you. You're such a wee little thing.
