While browsing the archives of an LJ comm, I saw an icon of Michael Palin and thought "awwww..."

It made me wonder--how many teenage girls, in 1985, got hot and bothered when thinking about Galahad in Castle Anthrax? If we leave out the rabid cult of Duran Duran (which had its own problems with acceptability), my teenage libido struck on at least two strange choices.

I kinda liked Dan Aykroyd too, so that movie was a double win.

Granted, I was thinking about John Cusack, but yeah.

That possibly ranks as one of the most awkward/creepy screen kisses ever. Creepy because I knew the actress was my age--fourteen or fifteen--and Cusack was twenty. And looked it. Ew. Plus, dude. Totally unnecessary.

The actress in that movie grew up to be an incredibly beautiful woman. And went to Harvard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meredith_Salenger). Wow!

It likely doesn't count as geeky, but I had a TOTAL crush on the lead singer of The Knack (http://www.knack.com/), based entirely on the album Get The Knack (http://www.knack.com/html/disc.html), when I was 11 in 1980.

Man, I still love that album! I'm slightly disturbed to consider that the lyric content of that album might have had quite an influence, there, in my hitting-puberty formative years!
