Eye surgery--the preliminaries
I promised myself that if
mckitterick was guaranteed a contract for the 2010-2011 academic year, I'd let myself afford LASIK surgery. Well! Less than 24 hours after the contract was verbally approved, I got on the phone with my eye doctor. My surgery is scheduled for May 20.
The big downer is I can't wear my contacts for two weeks before the surgery. I also can't wear them for two weeks before the pre-op visit. Which is why my pre-op visit is scheduled for the evening of May 19. Talk about annoying. I understand why, but it came as a surprise. An annoying surprise.
So basically, I can't do anything between May 5 and May 20 that requires sunglasses, energetic movement, or sweating. I have no idea how I'm going to handle yoga classes. Thank goodness I've got no dance obligations. Also, my ears are going to hate me. While my vintage frames are fine for occasional/weekly use, they're uncomfortable to wear day after day. Suxxor.

As for Yoga, depending on the class try it without your glasses. You might actually find that you are able to focus on your positioning better.

Ha! That's great!

I understand everything except the Yoga.
No glasses no problem. Yoga is not new to you from Camel to Warrior 1. You know them and if you are doing it badly she will come correct your posture. I can not stand sweat on my glasses so I also take off my glasses before bikram class.

You make an excellent point. Of course! Thank you.

It won't really be a lifetime, since I'll probably need reading glasses in 20 years. But I'll take twenty years corrective lens-free!!!

I'm reassured by the fact that my mom's eye surgeon who did her glaucoma surgery last month has had LASIK himself.
