Money Money Money

I got a phone call this morning from my dad. Just a quick hello-and-I-love-you before he and Mommy got on their plane. To Italy. Sigh. Ciao, daddio. I'm consoling myself with the knowledge that the cost of going to Italy would be about the same as getting one of my eyes done. Next time I travel abroad, I won't have to lug around my contact lens stuff. Right?

This week, I used TurboTax online for the first time. Sweet Jesus, why did it take me so long to try it? I don't have any deductions, I don't itemize stuff, and I make less than $30,000, so I qualified for the free federal filing and the cheap ($14.95) state filing. Totally worth it. I didn't even have to use a calculator. It was awesome.

Last night at yoga class, I decided that yes, I am going to enroll in Gopi's teacher training program that starts in September. I just have to scrape together half of the tuition fee that's due up front. I'm already dipping into savings for the LASIK surgery. I'm not going to do that for the yoga training.

With that in mind: Anyone who wants bloomers or chemise sewing done for KCRF this year, I'm your girl. Next month I'll have (I hope) some killer new venise lace styles. For a bit extra, I can dye the lace in a color of your choice. Fancy panties, girls! Because my weekends are already pretty full through July, I'm going to say no new customers for bodices. I don't have a weekend day to devote to drafting a pattern, sorry.

Heads-up, [livejournal.com profile] tama_grey, I might be working on some of your backlog of dance costume requests! Let me know if you've changed your mind about anything, or if you want to cancel something.

I don't need them, but lets talk about a couple chemises! I'm all for the cause.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, and guess what I found when I was cleaning the fabric stash: More of that green gauze!!!!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It's all yours! I can have it sewn up for Muskogee, if you want. Just let me know.

ICON = &heart!

[identity profile] queza7.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you use a pattern for bloomers? If so, where can I get it? I needs me some to wear under my wedding dress. ;)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I just use the pattern from a pair of PJ bottoms.

[identity profile] queza7.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess it really is the lace that makes bloomers, isn't it? Thanks!

Did you post a final photo of the coat? Did I miss that?

[identity profile] renniemom.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
oooh--this! I wanna see.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I didn't get one. It's still so naked-looking since the lace got backordered. I didn't think it would photograph well. I'll put up photos when it's really for real finished.

[identity profile] renniemom.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Me, me!
I need chemises and bloomers--can I get on your schedule?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely you are on my schedule!

D'you wanna supply your own fabrics, or should I start shopping? This is the time to start hunting for cotton gauze for chemises. If you wait for May, it'll all be gone from the shelves. I know you're limited for time at the mo', so if you need me to, I can go shopping for you if you trust my eye for color.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
If you pick up some white cotton gauze at a good price, can I buy a couple yards off you?

and yah, Turbo Tax rocks.. only one minor thing, for some reason, they don't allow the annual property tax for vehicles in Kansas, but I do believe we can claim that.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I will buy some white cotton gauze for you, but I'm not going to buy a stash of it. So if I buy it, it'll be only for you! Let me know when/if you're committed to ordering a chemise.

[identity profile] renniemom.livejournal.com 2010-04-03 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
I *totally* trust your eye for color and you know my garb colors. Can I commit to 2 chemises right now? Will need to budget appropriately :-) Want bloomers, too, but they can be a lower priority.

We have one gig May 1/2 and that's it for now so schedule me in around others with more pressing dates.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-03 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll look for good gauze for two chemises. Different colors or two of the same?

[identity profile] renniemom.livejournal.com 2010-04-07 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
I think 2 different colors, pls. I like variety.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-07 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay!

[identity profile] grnvixen.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Turbo tax? Did you buy it, or is it online somewhere? I'm tired of trying to keep up with all the forms, sigh.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I used it online. Not sure how it works for home-owners--you might have to purchase the full version of that. But it was soooo nice. Said "put the amount listed in box 1 of your W-2 here" and so on.

I'm sure you'll have more stuff to do because you're a home-owner, but I imagine it's still easier than doing it yourself.

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
For easy tax returns, you can use the free one. They charge you to file state.

Actually, even the more expensive one is free to use, you just have to pay to file.

I've been using it for awhile. Love it. My employer even has the ability to download my W-2 info. I didn't even fill that in.

[identity profile] bleuberi21.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
What is your usual charge for chemises and bloomers?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
$40 to $50 for a chemise, $40 and up for bloomers, depending on how fancy you want 'em.

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
WANT. I even have some fabric that might be useful.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Kick ass! For bloomers or chemise? Email me and we'll work out details.

[identity profile] yavaphun.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I can totally see you as a Yoga instructor. Good luck you will be great at it I know with your background.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt I'll be opening up my own yoga studio, but it's the best way I can think of to go deeper into my own practice. I also might do tradesies with people--a yoga session for a dance lesson, etc.

[identity profile] tama-grey.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
W00T! Colour me excited! I'll email you!
