mckitterick and I shared a 10 oz. bag of powdered sugar gem doughnuts last night. It was magical. They were delicious. I'm up three pounds this morning. And I don't regret a single bite. Mmm.
Didn't make it that far. After class I stopped at the store to pick up that and Nyquil for the boy, and didn't realize until I walked into the the store that I went to the wrong store for GF stuffs. We try again this evening...
Have you checked out Heidi Swanson's 101 Cookbooks blog? She has some amazing gluten-free recipes, including this one called Chocolate Puddle Cookies (http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/chocolate-puddle-cookies-recipe.html) which sounds absolutely divine.
101 Cookbooks (http://www.101cookbooks.com/). I'm a fan.
I was SO GOOD yesterday. I was starving all day it seems and I had to stop at the store on the way home for a couple of things -- so I was ripe for giving in to temptation -- and I completely avoided the chips, the dips and the junks in general. "Treated" myself to a pound of deli cole slaw instead.
Taking this nanny job was so THE RIGHT THING TO DO in terms of breaking my food/exercise habits at home. Srsly, working from home can be the death trap for healthy living if you fall into that hole (on the other side, of course, it makes things more convenient to fit in work outs, etc., if you in *that* mode). And as a nanny bonus, I get to take all her open booze because she can't/isn't going to ship it to Hawaii when they move. Bonus perk!!
mckitterick was all like "are you sure? like sure-sure?" about the donuts and I totally was! It was this completely rational decision to just FUCK IT and enjoy some goddamn doughnuts. But good for him for checking in with me (twice!) to make sure it wasn't just some impulse thing.
I'm glad that my CMD totally removed my cravings for these donuts in the chocolate variety. I ate the chocolate ones dunked in coffee starting at age two thanks to my grandpa.
Now, sushi. If I could remove that craving, it'd be swell. Or less swell, actually.
And I've learned even more about baking and cake and I want to perfect the Irish Car Bomb Cake, but I'd eat the freakin' thing. Darn it.
I am succumbing on Saturday to Boozy Cupcakes that Megan is making for the Goddess Fling. She's going to all that trouble you know, I can't let her down by refusing one!
She's making either Tiramisu (http://www.recipezaar.com/recipe/Tiramisu-Cupcakes-Uses-Cake-Mix-304982) or Margharita (http://www.hostessblog.com/2009/05/margarita-cupcakes-lime-frosting/) cupcakes, but lookee what I found
Gluten-free Mojito cupcakes (http://wheat-free-meat-free.blogspot.com/2009/03/mojito-cupcakes-gluten-free-boozy.html). Actually, that Mint Sugar sounds divine!
I read somewhere that slim people report and brain test more pleasure from food than obese people.
Whether or not the report is a pile of bunk, I know from my experience that a rare treat is way more base line satisfying than pizza and soda every night. The trick for me is will power. I need more won't power!
Hooray for treats. I had (homemade) Mexican food last night that included tortilla chips and pinto beans. (Yes, this is my extreeeeeeeme indulgence--but I was missing it!)
Tonight, we had sushi (out), and ordered rolls involving rice.
Yeah, I was up two pounds yesterday morning, and my jeans are waaaaay too tight after eating rice, but it was good to enjoy sating a craving and then realize that I feel better eating cleaner than that. Back on the wagon tomorrow. :)

I don't know that I ever won't feel good after eating those damn doughnuts, though. Time will tell.
