Barely dressed
I got home at 1:00 a.m. this morning after attending the It Starts With Murder screening at Jackpot. Despite me barricading the shit out of the bedroom door, Fetish still managed to get it open and woke me at 6:30. I didn't even get the five and a half hours uninterruped because I kept waking up with weird nausea issues. At one point, I got up to get the bathroom trash can to sit by the side of the bed. You know, just in case. So that was all really awesome. I feel great this morning.
Today was supposed to be laundry and cleaning the sewing room, which is in total chaos. I'm not sure how well that's going to go, because right now I'm having problems motivating myself to even get up for a second cup of coffee.
nottygypsy came over to help me with my hair color yesterday, and my hair looks fantastic. We used a new application method, working side to side from ear to crown instead of in patches from back to front. It worked incredibly well, and I've got 100% gray coverage. My hair is getting long enough that I'm going to have to make two packets of henna to cover all my hair next time. If I pull out the slight wave at the bottom, the ends come below my shoulders now. Craziness.
On a different topic altogether now, let me talk about music. My mom has some eclectic musical tastes (I guess that's where I get it), and I grew up listening to her play some stuff that would probably raise the eyebrows of most of her peers. In particular, Queen and Meat Loaf top her rock music favorites (I know, right? So awesome!). It's been a long time since I listened to any Meat Loaf on my own, since I didn't replace my cassettes when I moved to CDs. But last week I found a two-CD pack of Bat Out of Hell 1 and Dead Ringer that I couldn't pass up. I've enjoyed reminiscing and laughing about listening to my mom singing along to some of this stuff. So. Good.
I've been on this Meat Loaf kick for a couple days now. Lucky for
mckitterick that he's not around so isn't being subjected to repeated playings at high volume. It's fun to be reminded of how much ass this guy kicks. Yesterday I did a bit of Googling to find out if Meat Loaf had any new stuff coming out soon. And would you believe, he's doing a 2010 tour? Right now all the dates are set in the northeast U.S. and Canada. But oh man, if he comes to KC, I'm so there. I'll definitely buy a concert tee for my mom.
And now I really should at least get a load of towels started. Nnggggg.

I guess I'll toss a few bucks toward the cause instead.
Meat Loaf.. oh the memories! Best karaoke song ever? Paradise By the Dashboard Light. Have you ever checked out Jim Steinman (http://www.jimsteinman.com/), the guy who wrote most of Meat Loaf's songs? I mean, seriously, a musical of Bat Out of Hell?
Cirque du Soleil on acid? (http://www.jimsteinman.com/) Delightful! And I didn't know that it was the third top-selling album of all time, although it doesn't state by whose rankings.
Oh, oh.. a musical based on The Fearless Vampire Killers! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanz_der_Vampire)
Somehow I missed that too.
Wow, thanks for the trip down memory lane!
And for the record, I do believe I have the Jim Steinman album.

And I like the quality of his voice. At least, you know, before it went to shit. Wonder if he's got it back, now? One would hope, if he's touring...
