My own private awesome

I just saw this on HuntGatherLove. I wants it.

A post on someone's clean eating blog reminded me of why I don't read comments except on LJ, and only then on journals of people where I've not had bad experiences with comments. Unfortunately, this one blog entry was all about the comments they'd received from a Facebook post they'd made, while on vacation in Mexico. They mentioned they ate something with corn tortillas and a whole bunch of people were like "WTF you guyz are hypocrites and u hav betrayed meeeee!" It reminded me why my presence on the internet is restricted to basically LJ and why I don't read comments on external blogs. Also why I'm not on Facebook. God, people. Grow the fuck up and get over yourselves. Get over your "heroes," while you're at it. We're all just people. Nobody's perfect, and perfection is a goal to which nobody should aspire, anyway.

The best you can be, ever? Ever, ever, ever? Is never going to be perfect. And that goes for every single other person on the planet. Another blogger I read recently put up a post about being the best version of herself this year. I like the idea. It's very similar to the whole "Before I do anything, I ask myself, 'Is it awesome?'" standard.

Your own personal best. Your own awesome. Own them and live them.

My own awesome now involves staying away from those anger-provoking posts/threads from now on. And if I do read them (when one sneaks in like the above mentioned), I shall walk away from the "comment" button.
