Headed down

This is the second day in a row that I've felt exhausted in the early afternoon. Yesterday, around 2:00, I had to give up and shut my door so I could lie down for a bit. I didn't have time to fall asleep, but I just had to lie down. I couldn't keep my eyes open at my desk.

Today, I'm starting to get tired again, a wee bit before 1:30. And I even got to sleep in this morning (until 8:00!) because I had physical therapy at 9:00.

I'd been feeling so great for a couple months (especially when I'm going in for weekly acupuncture). Guess I had to crash sometime. I've been watching the scale, too, and I'm starting to gain weight, despite being super strict about minimal fruit and booze and upping my exercise (up three pounds this month, and up one inch around my waist).

Bummer.

Yesterday, I called Lawrence's only endocrinologist to see if she was taking new patients. The process went like this: Called listed number. Was told that wasn't the right number. Was given the right number. Was told I would be transferred to the correct line. Reached the office. Asked receptionist if doctor was taking new patients. Was told I would have to ask a nurse. Left a voice mail with nurse. Twenty-four hours later, I haven't heard back.

Not feeling especially positive about that avenue of treatment. I've had my fill of non-responsive doctors, thanks. Doctors Khosh are looking like my final option. And that's not really helping my attitude, either.

Thanks. I'm frustrated with and angry at my body right now. I know a lot of my emotional reaction to the situation is monthly hormone stuff, but the fact that I gotta deal with this situation at all is discouraging.

Man, Lawrence is just the pits for endocrinologists. The excellent Dr. Stewart I saw is in Lenexa. If you're interested I can give you his contact info. Maybe he could at least recommend someone?

I'll definitely take his info, thanks.

Thank you. I do not need to have these SRS BODY ISSUES six weeks before KCRF starts.

toooo true. maybe it'll wind back down by then?

I hope so. Definitely going to focus on inflammation and exhaustion issues for the next few months of acupuncture treatments.

I'm dismayed to hear this for you, too.

Jbird was sent to that endo.. she only works there a couple days a week from Topeka, or something.
He was not impressed, she was pretty much a by the drug company propaganda by the book 'specialist' when it came to his diabetes, and gave him instructions to way the hell overdo his insulin that led him into some really shitty low levels.

Maybe she's different with thyroid issues?

Oh god is this the person who told him to eat more carbs?!?!?!

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)

No, that was the "Diabetes Instructor" at LMH.
Same shit, different person, really, they all drink the American Standard Treatment koolaid.

God, fuck that. And also, still no call back, so fuck them for that, too.

Grace gave me the name and number of her awesome guy in Olathe (or Lenexa? Whatever.). I might give him a call on Monday.

*looks above*

Lenexa.

I agree.
It took Jbird's doc a good three months to get him an appt.
I mean, really, they sent him paperwork to fill out and bring with him THREE MONTHS before they could get him in to see this doc.

Endocrinologist

Wow. I love days like that - all you want is some answer, and there's nothing. Not sure if you can justify a trip to KC, but I know there are several here. I am seeing Dr. Anita Kuruvilla at St Lukes, and she seems to be really good. My mother really likes her, which says a lot.
Quick history: My mom has been coding medical records for 30 years, and definitely has her opinions about certain hospitals, doctor groups, etc. She reads medical journals, researches, and in her own way is a "Truth Seeker" and really has no problem asking why or just telling someone no.
So anyways, that's too bad - esp for a college town that is very surprising. The doctor I had before that was Dr Daniel Stewart. He actually thought I was a "fun case"...

If it comes to the point where I have to go to KC to see a doctor that can help me, I'll definitely keep Dr. Kuruvilla in mind! Thank you for the recommendation.

I would recommend her. She is at St Lukes Endocrinology & Diabetes Suite.(they have their own floor, their own lab to draw blood, etc if that tells you anything)
4321 Washington, Suite 6100, KC, MO 64111
(816)932-3470
I believe they have other doctors there as well as they are a group - as I understand it. So if you can't get in to see her, they can set you up with the next available. :) I hope this helps.

I wish all offices would turn one of their conference rooms into a nap room with cots where you could go nap for a few minutes mid-day. I think I'd be so much more productive that way.

I'm lucky--I have a Real Office and a (very small) couch. So when it gets bad enough, I can lie down for a little nap. It helps a lot when I'm going through a crash.
