Whoring out myself
Yesterday at faire, I had three people (one of whom I knew) ask me if I was available for hire for parties, etc. In each instance (they all happened at different times, in different places), I responded with an enthusiastic yes and gave the person a business card. Every time, the person looked at the card, looked at me and asked "Are you on Facebook?"
Fuck.
So now I have a Facebook account to use for networking dance gigs. I'm only going to use it as a promotional thing, though. No chatting, no personal interaction. If you know my real name, feel free to go over and friend me, but I'm not going to using it as a way to stay in touch with people beyond business transaction stuff.

That's how it starts.
You can do a "fan page" in your dance persona/name, you know. It somehow blocks a lot of interaction, but lets people contact you, and you can post your pictures and gigs on it.

All the info you need about business pages can be found here:

(To illustrate the difference, my sister has a "page" for her political-figure self and a more private "personal account" for personal interactions with people she knows.)

(I did a search and your fan page came up; no personal account viewable.)
